🌱 How to Harvest Low-Hanging Fruits
From Harvesting low-hanging fruits literally in farming and other niches - metaphorically in business is about getting quick, easy wins with minimal effort, risk, and costs. When you don't appreciate or value what is inside of you and close to you, it might eventually end up in the ditch as well as being out of control. That also means other people can control you without your consent. Below is a clear, practical guide that can be fused, and taught into the operating conditions for enrollment and empowerment of agroallied Skool members: 1. Identify What’s Within and Easily Reachable Low-hanging fruits are opportunities that: • Require little capital. Farming, Fishing, and Flowering businesses can be capital intensive, but be approached from a lower angular perspective to start the business. If you don’t have capital, the products, and offers, you can start with what you have inside and outside of you - tangible and intangible assets that are easily accessible. Once you identify your gift, asset, and determine the goal, you can start from the gift and asset as the seed and work towards producing the fruits or you can work from the fruits (goals) backwards towards the seeds. In Agroallied Skool, we can convert intangible assets into tangible assets and eventually into revenue. Without complicating issues, we quickly reach out to the one that is reachable and easily accessible. To identify this may require some skills. • Need skills you already have. We all have some natural abilities and skills that can be used to fulfill purpose that should not be discounted or ignored. The fact that it’s within our reach does not mean that we should devalue it. Low hanging fruits should be valued and priced cost-effectively as well as efficiently and speedily. • Can be executed quickly. The operation and execution is easy and fast. This should not be taken for granted. It still requires proper evaluation and necessary testing to avoid wastes, losses, and abuse towards sustainable development. Low hanging fruits can provide data for the higher level fruits and from such fruits to quality seeds.

Back in 2015 where it all began...
I was still a student at Cedara College of Agriculture when a group of us – 15 students from Cedara and UKZN – decided to start something that would change our journey forever. We called it Agri-Groomers. At the time, we were concerned. We saw the gap between what we were learning in class and what the market actually demanded. We knew that if we didn’t act, we’d graduate without being ready for the real world of agriculture. That concern sparked the idea: let’s create a platform where young people can learn, connect, and step into opportunities within the agri-sector. It took us almost two years to shape the idea, and in May 2015, we finally launched. At first, students were skeptical. But once they saw the vision, the numbers grew, and the energy was unstoppable. With the help of Cedara and UKZN staff, and support from organisations, companies, and government agencies, Agri-Groomers quickly gained traction. We built the foundation around three pillars: 🌱 Agricultural Learning & Skills Development – hands-on training and real exposure. 💡 Personal Development & Character Building – leadership, self-awareness, and soft skills to boost employability. 🤝 Connect (3D, AgriGames, GreenActions) – engaging platforms to debate, network, and build innovative solutions for agriculture. Our journey took us far beyond campus. We volunteered at the CCARDESA Youth in Agriculture Summit, collaborated with the South African Youth Climate Change Coalition, and even played a role at the UN FAO World Forestry Congress in Durban. Each of these moments proved one thing: young people have a place in agriculture – and we can lead. What started as a youth-focused movement has now grown into something bigger. AgriGroomers has evolved into a space for all age groups – students, graduates, and farmers. Our mission remains the same: to empower, to inspire, and to open doors for others. This is bigger than me, bigger than you — it’s a movement. If agriculture runs in your veins and you’re ready to make an impact, then Agri-Groomers is where you belong. Bring your energy, your ideas, your talent, and your passion. Together, we’re not just talking about change — we’re leading it. The future of agriculture is ours to shape, and the time is now.
