Legal basis for hard inquiry removal?
I am following this classroom guide. I currently have 2 hard inquiries on Experian. These are the result of applying for credit with 2 banks in the past month. Both applications were denied, so I dont have any open or closed accounts with these banks. When I call Experian up and say that I "noticed unauthorized inquiries on my report or I noticed someone applied for something in my name", am I telling them the truth? Because I did apply for funding. But I never actually asked them to run hard inquiries. Maybe there was checkbox agreeing to hard inquiries but I cant recall.
But one thing is for certain: I never gave the credit reporting agency permission to collect personal information on me.
