You’ve heard of Around the World in 80 Days most famously brought to life by Around the World in 80 Days with Micheal Palin, one of my great loves. Travel has always lit something up in me. New places, new colours, new ways of seeing. I try to travel as much as I can… but let’s be honest, travel is expensive. 😭😭😭
So this idea has been quietly growing for a long time.
How can we explore the world without actually going anywhere?
✨ And that’s how “Around the World in 80 Sketches” was born.
Every Wednesday, I’ll drop a new set of coordinates here in the community.
Your mission is simple and playful:🤪
- Open Google Maps
- Pop the coordinates in
- Switch to Street View
- Wander around
- Notice what catches your eye
- And sketch from what you see
Because we all create differently, I’m so excited to see the results no two sketches will ever look the same, and that’s the magic.✨
Ways you can take part
There’s no right or wrong here. You might:
- Do a quick line sketch
- Focus on architecture, people, plants or details
- Use pen, pencil, paint, collage or digital
- Write a few words or observations alongside your drawing
- Spend 5 minutes or an hour — it all counts
And if you’re thinking “but I can’t draw”…
This is your gentle invitation to challenge that thought. Drawing isn’t about being good, it’s about looking. Showing up. Trying.
I’ve been working on this idea for a long time, and now that we’re a community, it finally feels right to share it. Exploring together feels so much richer than doing it alone.
So…
🌍 Grab your passports
✏️ Your pencils
📄 Your paper
And let’s go exploring the world one sketch at a time.
I can’t wait to see where we land first 💛
