Artist Who loves audio
Hey guys thanks for allowing me to join this group! Iโ€™m a hip hop artist whoโ€™s in love with audio and want to learn to mix my own music. I record all my songs but Iโ€™m so interested in learning better techniques to eventually mix my own projects. Any tips are welcome, thanks!

Putting Malawi on the map!!
Hi everyone, my name is Jeremy Koch. I am a musician, songwriter, producer, and I run Porch Time Records, a label based in Lilongwe, Malawi, dedicated to putting the immense talent of Malawi musicians on the global map. Can you name one massive artist from Malawi? If not, follow Porch Time Records' socials and see what is coming! We use Logic X and FL Studio here. We record songs daily and so our number one challenges is clearing out the bottle neck of the final mix and master process.

Welcome in @Jeremy Koch , that sounds like a fantastic mission you've chosen! Good luck with everything. Where can we find Porch Time Records?

@Jeremy Koch wow thanks for sharing and congrats on nearly 8k subs! Any suggestions for growing to that size? Is it just consistent posting or any other secret sauce you'd want to share?
๐Ÿ‘‹ - Introducing Myself
Herro there! Name's Beryl Chan but I go by the artist moniker, "Grizzly Seazon". I call Toronto, Canada my hometown and country of origin. Still exploring different genres within Ableton. My last creation was a melodic rock song. My main challenge with mixing is a lack of practice and I have a tendency to overthink the changes I want to make. Would love to train my ears for better quality output, but I'm sure that will come in time. Hope to learn and connect with you all soon. Thanks for having me, @Noah Carmichael

Mastering a Song with beat drops
I'm also struggling with mastering a vocal that has empty spaces in the beat as it hard to bring the whole song to around the same noise level with out feeling like I'm over compressing.

Good question! It is okay to have some spots that are quieter than others - that's how you increase interest for the listener. That said, I think mixing and mastering vocals is probably the hardest "instrument" to work with. Do you have a demo you can share?
Crisp Vocal
Anybody have any times on making a vocal crispy and not feel so dynamic when mixing as my vocals often feel to lack that quality that you may see in say a d4vd or polo g vocal.

For dynamics you're going to want to learn how to use a compressor well - compression is such an important aspect with vocals. Humans have a wide range of volume in the voice so it's important to even it out by the time it gets to your listener's ears. As far as crispy, I would recommend EQ (or multiband compression, which is essentially EQ + compression at the same time, if you're feeling brave)
