Putting Malawi on the map!!
Hi everyone, my name is Jeremy Koch. I am a musician, songwriter, producer, and I run Porch Time Records, a label based in Lilongwe, Malawi, dedicated to putting the immense talent of Malawi musicians on the global map. Can you name one massive artist from Malawi? If not, follow Porch Time Records' socials and see what is coming! We use Logic X and FL Studio here. We record songs daily and so our number one challenges is clearing out the bottle neck of the final mix and master process.

@Zach Burger if you see the dates of my videos you will see that Consistant posting has nothing to do with it. The honest truth is the only thing that matters is that you serve music people want. My first music video as PTR dropped in January. It had 27,000 views in the first 24 hours. Why? It was an artist Malawian’s knew and wanted more from. I signed him so he could have the financial backing he needed to achieve the success he deserved. We created a good music video, hyped it on social media and on local radio and television. Also, he has about 150k followers on Facebook before is I signed him. I started my label with him because he was established, respected, and underserved by the music industry in Malawi. He drops his first LP under PTR in November. He will blow up, partly because of the anticipation, partly because the music serves, and definitely because the artists in Malawi are also his fans and the best of the best in Malawi agreed to do collabs with him on his first album. I’m being honest here. I leverage the work others have done, those that have proven themselves, and then invest in their success to help them get local and international recognition. If you’re starting from scratch as an independent musician, the best thing you can do is play live and leverage social media…but I don’t believe the hype online that suggests you need to do gimmicky crap to get attention. You need to earn your audience. My advice, figure out what story you want to put out there, be consistent with your persona and your story. See if it resonates. Accept feedback. Don’t be afraid to pivot. I believe authenticity is actually craved in this world of social media and now AI. Not sure this helps, but I hope it makes sense. Feel free to dive deeper into it. I’m here for it.

Yes, and thank you!
🚀 Mastering Tip for Home Engineers:
🔥 Loud ain't pro. Clean is king! Before you even think about slapping on a limiter, make sure your mix has -6dB to -3dB of headroom to avoid distortion. When it's time to boost that final loudness, set your limiter’s output ceiling to -1dB to prevent ugly digital clipping on streaming platforms. Keep your gain reduction subtle (1-3dB max)—you want punch, not a brick wall! 🎛 Plugin Pick: Ozone 11 by iZotope 💎 This all-in-one mastering beast gives you AI-assisted balance, dynamic EQs, and a smart maximizer to make your track sound pro—even if you're mastering in your bedroom. Your mix deserves a radio-ready glow-up! Want to learn how to really master your tracks? Comment "YES" below and i'll dm you!

IF you could only have 1 plugin bundle - what would it be???
Hey guys! Someone asked me the other day if I could only have 1 plugin bundle what would it be: - I think for all-around everything bundle I would go with Waves Creative Access - I'll post a link below: https://www.waves.com/subscriptions?w_campaign=22513638660&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22513638660&gbraid=0AAAAADPwrXA8DNNrJNC31rf1kuU3CvxVy&gclid=Cj0KCQjw5ubABhDIARIsAHMighZCfhfsdlHzxITWRuawJyhLKvO42TANgCAQO-6b3DRA4OUbVpYCPvQaAvfKEALw_wcB Really good for all types of music and comes with a plugin called "StudiVerse" which you can download different chains and adjust any plugin to difference macros and works with all Waves plugins which is really cool! Highly recommend trying it out especially if you only want to invest into one plugin bundle I think this would be the one! Happy mixing 🚀

Original Song - Lose
Hey All. Here is my latest song, I consider it to be a demo as really not much has gone into the production. I did some basic mixing and the drums are a plastic container I use for cat food😜. But the structure of the song is there. I would like get this properly produced in the future. Please let me know your thoughts. Video credit is in the description. https://youtu.be/SoswJ-hmR2o?si=bafaQ_20_i7LpoXY

Nice song, but production has room for improvement. I would fatten the entire mix. It is a bit tricky to give you specific feedback not knowing the DAW or the plugins you have available, but the sounds, overall, needs more EQ work and a wider sound. Just my thoughts. Keep recording!
