ANOTHER SINGLE
Hey everyone, I have a new single out today! Back in 2020, during the pandemic, I started studying guitar online with Hungarian Gypsy guitarist Csabi Olah πŸ‡πŸ‡Ί. We only did a handful of lessons, but they were incredibly inspiring and opened a new door for me musically. Around that time, I became deeply interested in Hungarian Gypsy jazz through two records:🎧 TziganskaΓ―a – Matelo Ferret🎧 Gypsy Guitars – Angelo Debarre, Serge Camps & Frank Anastasio Through this music, I discovered the legendary guitarist Kosta Lukacs, who sadly passed away years ago. His playing revealed an entire jazz guitar world I had never heard before. In 2023, I finally made it to Budapest, spending several days with Csabi and soaking in the local music scene πŸ‡πŸ‡Ίβœ¨ This piece is a composition by Kosta Lukacs β€” a beautiful etude he used to teach his students. https://open.spotify.com/track/4nAYbne8JyPwNjhbzXB58Q?si=4d0594615781418f The single is now available on all streaming platforms 🎡Enjoy!

ohhh ! I just received my Tziganskaia CD yesterday ! I haven't had time to listen to it yet !
New Lesson out today!
I’m breaking down one of Django’s classic licks from β€œDinah.” This is one I hear a lot of players struggle with, so I take it slow and step by step. We also zoom in on the right-hand technique, because that’s usually the missing piece with this type of phrase. Jump in, try it out, and post your questions (or a clip!) in the comments β€” that’s what this space is for.

@Bob Kelley Do you have a transcription of the lick or an audio ? I like to investigate ;)

What's everyone been working on?
Back home until January!! (Finally a break from travelling!!) I've been drilling things with the metronome... Still not perfect... But give it another week! I find it's best to set goals, and work on things to meet the goals... I'm almost up to tempo with Jimmy Rosenebergs version of "Chega De Saudade"

@Jimmy Grant I will certainly do it; playing this piece in several keys could be a challenge.
Coquette
Hi everybody! There are several chords to play Coquette. Which chords as beginner can i start to practize? .

@Rick Spence Yes, and I like to play with the 4 top strings : x x 5 4 5 3 (Em) or x x 5 4 5 5 (Em7 11) or x x 5 6 5 7 (Em6) after this one you can play A7 x x 5 6 5 5 or x x 7 9 8 9 Therefore, you have more options to substitute the Em-7. It depends on the high note you prefer to hear in your chord.
