RDS vs 1-3-1 defense
My high school girls varsity team is running a lot of race and space and drive and space principles this season. We are about to face a team that plays a 1-3-1 defense. We will be able to counter this defense via racing into transition before they can set up in their 1-3-1, but there will be plenty of times where we need to play vs the 1-3-1 after dead balls or when we are neutral in transition. Does anyone have any experience and advice on how to run drive and space vs a 1-3-1 defense?

Regarding tool #2 from JP and tool #3 from Mark, their ideas remind me of the lessons taught in “ the language of coaching” by Nick Winkleman, “ coaching athletes to be their best” by Stephen Rollnick and “ radical candor” by Kim Scott. All great reads if coaches are looking for ideas on how to improve as a coach in the offseason.
Questions
I have 3 problems 1. My teams always start slow and end better how can I fix that 2. Graduated 7 seniors and how to handle that transition period 3.How to teach a team with sub par decision making skills and help them to think and play thr game

Regarding the loss of seven seniors: I agree with Douglas and I will paraphrase what Tyler and Mark have said many times in their podcast - it is important to have a resilient “Why” for coaching. It can’t ONLY be about wins and losses.
Program Communication
What’s apps or platforms are best for communication with players and parents? Has anyone use the band app?

We use TeamSnap. It has all the functionality we need. Calendar, availability tracker, email or DM players. It’s not free, but the price is worth the value for our program.

There is a free version but the free version has limited functionality.
Style of Play 2024/25
Coaches, Here is a link to video of our High School Boys Basketball team running 4-Out Drive & Space. We rely on transition, Rose Series, Low Post Series, and some Princeton (Split action). These clips don't do justice to the Dominoes we were able to create throughout the year and playing with advantage. We have a lot to learn, but had success while slowly beginning to add Drive and Space concepts. Let me know if anyone has questions! https://share.qwikcut.com/67d7821fd26d8bc4696438d1/%20Everest%20Basketball%20Style%20of%20Play%2024%2F25

I love how your guys play off two and use their protection plans (stride stop and Barkley dribble) to find open players on the perimeter or score in the post. I also love your split action. Great job!
