The content in the PDF is solid, but the presentation and colour scheme could benefit from an update to make it more visually engaging and impactful. To make it pop!

Stepping Into Fear at Nearly 50 — And Bringing My Girls With Me
🌄 Stepping Into Fear at Nearly 50 — And Bringing My Girls With Me As I’m getting older — nearly 50 now — I’ve noticed something creeping into my life that never used to be there: small limiting beliefs, quiet fears, little hesitations that try to keep me comfortable. Nothing dramatic. Just subtle things like: • Choosing to stay home instead of travelling for work • Putting off opportunities because they feel “a bit much” • Even developing a mild fear of flying… despite the fact that when I was younger, I learned how to fly and absolutely loved it It’s strange how comfort can become a cage without us noticing. But here’s the thing: I want to lead by example for my girls. We talk a lot about courage, growth, and breaking through fear — and I realised I wasn’t modelling it as much as I want to. Recently we were all chatting about our fears, and “fear of heights” came up for every one of us. So I thought… Time to do something about it. So next Tuesday, I’ve booked the girls and I in for a bungee jump at The Highland Fling in Pitlochry, Scotland. Yes. A bungee jump. Yes. My heart is already racing writing this. But that’s the point. We’re going to use NLP anchoring techniques, reframing, and coaching each other through the build‑up, the fear, and the breakthrough. I want them to feel what it’s like to step into something scary and come out the other side stronger. And I want to feel that again too. 🎥 I’m going to try to go LIVE for the jump So if you want to see the results — the fear, the laughter, the wobbling legs, the breakthrough — tune in: 📅 Monday, 25 May 2026 🕜 13:30–14:30 If you’ve been feeling fear creeping in as you get older… or if you’ve been avoiding something you know would stretch you… maybe this is your sign to take one small step outside your comfort zone. Growth doesn’t stop with age — unless we let it.

Great post, Toby, I can certainly relate, especially as I’m nearing 50 myself. I first noticed my appetite for risk changing when my daughter was born. Along with that came a shift in my core values. Before she was born, I remember jumping over a gate to stand on the edge of a narrow ledge overlooking a cliff in the Blue Mountains in Australia, and not even in proper hiking boots, just Converse trainers. Looking back now, I think, “What a complete idiot! I could easily have slipped to my death!” Honestly, until now, I hadn’t realised that maybe a level of fear has started creeping into certain areas of my life. I’d put it down to having a busy lifestyle, feeling exhausted at times and frustrated that I don’t always have the time or energy to progress the things I want to professionally and personally. That said, reflecting on it more, I’ve also noticed I have less fear and more positivity in other areas, largely because I’ve achieved a fair amount in life already. I’m very grateful in this respect and convinced a lot of that comes from living with and being supported by NLP. I just still feel driven to do more with my life! I’m looking forward to seeing you and the girls take on the bungee jump experience. Good luck!
