I got some new arrows and they came fletcher with the plastic vanes. I can't tell if the arrow flight is affected or not. Should I just strip them and feather fletch them and move forward?
Alright folks it’s kit time! What are 4 items that you cannot do without when heading to the woods to hunt? Here are mine, let’s hear what yours are! Happy Monday!
I'm a scoutmaster so I pack a lot of stuff, but minimalistic stuff. I'm also in SC where it's 90 degrees during bow season and never more than a mile from my car. Tags, license, water, coffee, clean shirt, climbing ropes, platform, knife, phone, battery, more water, pruning shears, beef sticks, marking tape, headlamps and more water.
Recurve. First was a Galaxy from RMS Gear. Recently I got 2 ILF bows, metal and wood, from Sanlida, 62" 40 and 45 lb limbs. Put TTT strings on them and they shoot way better than factory strings. I saw Jeff Phillips review these bows and thought why not....I would like to get a Peak to Peak riser from RMS gear next, but first learning how to shoot and tune the bow and arrows.
I started rifle hunting at 50, picked up a compound at 55. I'm 60 now and starting with the "gateway drug/bow" a Galaxy recurve. I e had it for 3 yrs but just now really shooting it. I now have t additional gateway ILF recurve to see what I like/need before spending real money on better equipment. I wanted to hunt with a challenge, and I am probably way overchallenged right now. I'm not a good hunter, still learning all I can...
