Do You Need an ISBN??
Okay, I've been seeing more questions pop up about ISBNs. Many people think they must buy one before publishing a book, but that isn't always true. Here's a simple breakdown: 📚 You probably DON'T need to buy an ISBN if: ✅ You're publishing only on Amazon KDP ✅ You are okay with Amazon showing as the publisher ✅ You're testing a book idea before investing more money ✅ You're creating low-content books, journals, or books under a pen name where publisher branding isn't important Amazon will actually give you a FREE ISBN for paperbacks and hardcovers. Now here is when buying your own ISBN may make more sense: 💡 Consider buying your own ISBN if: ✅ You want to publish your book beyond Amazon (Barnes & Noble, bookstores, IngramSpark, libraries, etc.) ✅ You want YOUR name or publishing company listed as the publisher instead of Amazon ✅ You're building a long-term publishing brand ✅ You plan to expand into multiple distribution channels One thing many people don't realize: ❌ One ISBN does NOT cover everything. Each format typically needs its own ISBN: • Paperback = 1 ISBN • Hardcover = 1 ISBN • Ebook = usually not required on KDP For beginners, I usually suggest keeping costs low and using the free KDP ISBN while learning the process. You can always invest more as your publishing business grows. Question for you: Did you buy your own ISBN, or did you use the free KDP option?

3 FREE Ways to Market Your Book 📕
If your book is already live but not getting the traction you expected, don’t assume you need to spend money on ads. There are a few simple things you can do right now—completely free—that can make a real difference in visibility and sales. 1. 𝐒𝐞𝐭 𝐔𝐩 𝐀+ 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭: (You’re Missing Out If You Don’t)If you’ve published through Amazon KDP and haven’t added A+ Content yet, this is one of the easiest upgrades you can make. A+ Content lets you visually showcase your book using images, comparison charts, and formatted sections instead of just plain text. Think of it as turning your listing into a mini landing page. This helps readers: - Better understand what your book is about - Feel more confident buying - Stay on your listing longer (which helps conversion) And the best part? It’s completely free inside KDP. If you want my training on how to implement A+ content you can find it here. 2. 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐊𝐃𝐏 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭 to Get More Eyes on Your Book. If you’re enrolled in Amazon KDP, don’t ignore the power of KDP Select. This program gives you access to 5 free promo days every 90 days, which you can use strategically to: - Boost downloads - Increase visibility in your category - Attract new readers who may leave reviews More downloads = more data for Amazon’s algorithm to work with. It’s one of the easiest ways to give your book a visibility push without spending anything. 3. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 (This Adds Up Fast)Social media is your long game—and it works if you stick with it. Every post is another opportunity for someone to: - Discover your book - Learn what it’s about - Click through and buy You don’t need to overcomplicate it. Share things like: - Quick tips from your book - Behind-the-scenes of your writing process - Short clips explaining who your book is for Also, make sure your bio actually converts.
