I want to celebrate a moment that happens in this community all the time... and deserves to be seen. One of our members shared this recently, and I keep coming back to it: "I wasn't expecting to walk away with a community. I think it surprised me that I found a community, not just a class." That's you, by the way. You are who she found. Every time you show up in the comments, every breakout session you lean into (during our Live Sessions/Next one: June 11), every honest share... you are the reason this community is what it is. When the sun and planets have me awake at o dark thirty...I implement yoga nidra and I fall asleep immediately. Thank you for having this group!
What does rest mean to you... really?
Not scrolling until your brain goes numb. What does actual, nourishing rest feel like in your body? One of our Peace in Rest members said something that stuck with me: "I approached yoga nidra to get better sleep... and then I had no idea the depth it would take me to." That's it, isn't it? Most of us come in through the door of exhaustion and end up discovering something we didn't even know we were looking for. So — I want to hear from you. Drop it below: What brought you here? What are you discovering it's actually about? Or what would you like to learn about true rest!? No right answers. Just the honest ones.
What does rest mean to you... really?
Rest for me means that it is okay for me to hold still instead of bouncing all over the place. Thank you, Ayla!
State One | The Rooted One
"I'm so tired. But even when I lie down, I can't seem to actually rest." If you've said something to this effect, even just to yourself, I want you to know I hear you. And I want to share something that might bring a little relief. What you're describing has a name. In the yogic tradition, we understand the body as the first and most foundational layer of our experience... the Annamaya Kosha, or the food body. When this layer is struggling, rest feels impossible even when we desperately want it. The nervous system stays switched on. Sleep doesn't fully restore. There's a kind of bone-deep fatigue that just seems to linger no matter what you do. This is the state of the Rooted One — someone whose body is asking, very quietly and very persistently, for permission to feel safe. This is one of the five states I've been mapping in my work, and it's where so many people find themselves without ever realizing it (OVER 38% OF YOU)! The exhaustion feels personal. It feels like a failure. But it's actually the body doing exactly what it was designed to do (protect you) and just needing a little help learning that it's okay to stop. WHAT UNDERSTANDING THIS CAN OPEN UP FOR YOU When you can recognize yourself in this state, something subtly shifts. You stop fighting your body and start listening to it. Even simple things... the way you breathe, the way you transition into rest... begin to feel different. Sleep becomes more accessible, and that low hum of tension starts to ease.
