How did the liturgy go this week? Were there any issues with organ registration? How our personnel handling new music? How is the congregation handling changes to familiar music? Let me know your thoughts!
Hi Dane, Overall, things went well this week. The organ sounded good, and the liturgy flowed nicely. The main challenge was Saturday’s rehearsal—only five girls were present, and for the full choir, 11 showed up to sing. It was a bit of a hurdle getting those changes to stick, especially with more than half the group learning them for the first time. We also had to share the space with about six CCD kids praying the pre-Mass rosary. Despite that, everyone did their best. The congregation was fully involved as usual and jumped right into the hymns. We were a little out of sync at the start, but everyone caught the rhythm quickly. For organ registration, I’m not using any tremulant or 2′ stops in the hymns. At the end of mass, I asked Samantha what she felt worked and didn't work and will make adjustments like the placement of the girl's and microphone placement as well for next Sunday's Mass. Peace, Veronica
How did the liturgies go for Sunday of Divine Mercy? Just let me know! It would also be great if you posted the sheet music that you used in a repertoire list or bulletin!
It went well! I adapted to having some extra singers join in, and everything came together nicely. The youth choir and girls choir did excellent—they really blended and gelled beautifully. This was also the first time the newer girls choir sang together with the more established group, and it went really well.
Thanks for checking in! Yes, I did make some adjustments between rehearsal and the liturgy. I kept things a bit fuller for Easter, but was mindful about when to scale back—especially with the tremulant and 2’ stops—so it wouldn’t overpower the singers. With the added voices, I tried to support them while still keeping clarity. I’m still finding the right balance in that space, but I appreciate your guidance—it’s been really helpful.
