How did the liturgy go this week? Were there any issues with organ registration? How our personnel handling new music? How is the congregation handling changes to familiar music? Let me know your thoughts!

@Veronica Leyva sounds good! If there is still such a conflict with the pre-mass Rosary, it might be worth considering doing your morning rehearsal in another space? Perhaps one that already has a keyboard there on the Church campus. The tremulant’s in general do make more of a theatrical sound, but using the 2 foot during this Easter season would probably work all right! Really, up to you just to experiment. And for rehearsal and performance group differentiation: totally up to you on how you’d like to handle it. I’ve always been a fan of letting people sing, but in my experience, it’s always under the pretext that there’s a large solid court group and then a few stragglers on the day. Obviously, it sounds like the inverse for you! So your strategy of not letting them sing unless they go to the rehearsal probably is best. Glad to hear that everything flowed well and that the congregation and Choir mesh!
Music this weekend?
How did the liturgies go for Sunday of Divine Mercy? Just let me know! It would also be great if you posted the sheet music that you used in a repertoire list or bulletin!

@Veronica Leyva by chance did you use the registrations that we had talked about when I was there? Because I noticed in rehearsal you still had the tremulant and two foots on for the organ. They work for Easter! I was just wondering if you had changed the registration between rehearsal and performance?
Hi, I'm Dane!
I am the founder and director of Ars Musica Sacra — I started this community to help form sacred music ministers. You may ask, "what is your background?" I was once the Director of Sacred Music in the Office of Divine Worship for the Diocese of Austin, TX. I have worked in catholic parishes and missions globally to bring sacred music into the liturgy and spread music education. And I have worked in catholic schools in the USA to enliven their liturgy, theology, and music.
