That’s not what I mean. Overdelivering means increasing perceived value through intentionality. Better communication.Cleaner handoff.Stronger explanation.Better photos.Cleaner work area.More confidence.More patience.More professionalism. Anybody can charge more. But can you carry the weight of that price? That’s the real question. When your prices rise, your standard must rise with it. This week, I want you to ask yourself: What’s one thing I can improve this week that costs me almost nothing, but increases the value my customer feels? Write it below. Then execute it. PUSHMORE! Hope you’re all having a great Saturday! I don’t have a student or a workshop today. It’s just me and the metal. I’ve set the timer for two hours, and then I’ll be jumping into recording some knockdown videos for that module! But, I wanted to chime in and share with you the tools that are making quick work of this wild Texas Hail, beat roof, which would be a replacement in any other shop! But we are going to push metal, and preserve this panel! This is where we begin transitioning from visual confirmation to metal interpretation. At the micro level, we operate from the tool tip itself. At the macro level, we operate from the behavior of the entire system of zones surrounding the damage. The crown. The shoulder. The edges. The tension paths. The transfer of force through the panel. The tip is only one data point. As technicians progress, they become less dependent on seeing the exact location of the tip and more dependent on understanding how force travels through the panel. This is exactly why the Push Challenge exists so early in training. The exercise isn’t designed to teach students to find the tip. It’s designed to teach students to observe the language of the metal. Eventually the question changes from: “Where is my tip?” to “What is the metal telling me?” That transition is one of the defining moments between beginner and technician. CHALLENGE: Work a dent while intentionally shifting between Micro Mode and Macro Mode. Micro Mode: Locate and track the tip. Macro Mode: Ignore the tip completely and read only the movement of surrounding features. Document what information each perspective gives you that the other one misses. I’m working on my first paying job this weekend! After all the training, putting in reps, studying, learning, growing, long nights ext. I was scared loading up my tool cart that I just recently put together because I figure I need to be ready and 💥 boom. Opportunity presented itself and I swallowed my fear of the unknown and I stepped into this new territory where it’s me against me against the dent and guess what, I’m pushing dents 😆 All the late nights putting in reps allowed me to build confidence and I’m so grateful for @Dean Berman. he has really shown me skills and a standard of pushing that is taking me exactly where I want to go.
