After watching a couple of videos I think I don't know anything about knitting 😔 and after over 60 years of knitting I'm now a beginner again

@Carolyn Jones hi Carolyn I'm in Australia so I have started watching Society Knits - Australian Two Purls in a Pod - Australian Mostly Knitting - Australian The Roaming Knitter Sari Nordlund Kutovakika I also "search" when I'm trying to decide if a pattern I like is covered by a podcast. Many popular patterns are the subject of multiple podcasts like the Ranunculus, Soldotna etc. I have found it a good way to get a feel for the designers style. 😊

@Kelly Archer so true, and a great way to look at things 👊🏻👊🏻😊
Refracta Sweater with extended design
I have finished my refracta sweater and have really enjoyed knitting it. I kept pretty much to the pattern until the end of the yoke and then completely deviated from the pattern and basically redesigned it to repeat the ‘eye’ motif another couple of times, each time with a different background colour. I also knitted it in the round and just purled very second row. I did an intarsia twist each time I changed colour to keep the seam tight. I think you barely notice the seam. I wasn’t sure how to finish it off and tried a couple of ways but eventually decided on a corrugated ribbing on the sleeves with a stretch bind off and then did something similar at the bottom of the body, just going down to a smaller needle and doing two handed colourwork for the final two rows and a stretch bind off. This is successfully stopping it curling. I absolutely love this sweater. It’s knitted in Debbie Bliss baby cashmerino, so a sport weight - heavier than the pattern called for - but it will make it cosy for autumn/winter/spring and I’ll get lots of wear out of it. https://www.ravelry.com/projects/Docmarr/refracta-sweater

Wow this is Gorgeous❣️❣️❣️❣️ I thought I was "The Bees Knees" because I changed the pattern slightly so it didn't have such a horizontal look.... the changes you have made are Amazing and I love the change of colour too🥰 Fantastic job👊🏻😊

@Shuna Marr yes I live in South Australia and our summers are hot but dry. My cotton version will be too warm for those hot days but I will get plenty of wesr out of it in the Spring and Autumn months. Thank you for your kind words, I'm so happy Zanete is so encouraging about us altering her designs to fit our personalities and body's❣️❣️❣️😊 😊
Brooklyn Memories
Soooo....the weather got very warm and made working with the fuzzy yarn for my Lightfall less comfortable, so I started the Brooklyn Memories socks and that's been my go-to for the past 9 days. I had a lot of fun with this pattern, and was able to use up some of my stash yarn. I must say that I very much enjoy this particular toe-up construction with the bottom gusset and heel flap - the fit is quite comfortable and kept my interest throughout. Would knit again. https://www.ravelry.com/projects/LoveyMakesBread/brooklyn-memories-socks

I agree with you about the construction method and it would be particularly great when doing stripes if you can't be bother to do the whole "Jogless" rigmarole 🤦🏻‍♀️ because the join is under your foot. 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 I often look at other sock patterns and try to figure out how to make them with this method. 😮‍💨😵‍💫

Bust Darts
Hello all! Have any of you tried adding bust darts to your knits? If so, do you have any tips or tricks on adding them to patterns you’re following? I hear about bust darts and how they can help tailor your knits, especially knitting in the round. Thank you!

@Shuna Marr I thought that too but I have been keeping my eye open and some designers add them after a colour work round yolk once you get to the stockinette stitching. I think Sari Nordlund may do one. I haven't tried it yet..... after all this colour work we've all been doing I'm finding it hard to motivate myself to make a totally plain garment. 😩😊

@Margaret Corrigan I have made a couple of Jumpers now, after following Zanetes advice about using the Upper Bust measurement, and I try them on constantly. When I get to the "Separation for Sleeves" part I often add more stitches and I works beautifully to give me extra room at my bust.
Time for a sock knit!
A few years ago I decided to take a class at the fiber festival each year to give me something totally fun to look forward to. This year I did a class on stranded colorwork that was more of a discussion group on the technique. It was awesome. The instructor showed us her recent purchase which was a set of interchangeable needles that went down to a US size 00. Until then I'd only seen them down to a US size 4. So I put a set in my Amazon wish list and informed my husband that I 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 wanted them for my birthday. I might have implied that bad things would happen to the entire family if I didn't get them. I also put a couple of other knitting notions in my wish list, but the needle set was the big one. The little colored balls are rubbery point protectors. The set is from ChiaGoo and is their mini lace set that includes 4" tips in sizes 000, 00, 0, 1, and 1.5. It's called the mini set since their cables come in 3 sizes, mini, small, and large. They also have adaptors so that you can use the tips with the small join with their mini cables. I also quietly ordered a few other sizes (2, 2.5, and 3) to round out my tiny interchangeable needles as well as a couple of the cables with the small joins. Now I just have to decide on a pattern.

@Jennifer Jett I have made the Ruhbarb and Custard socks 3 times now, it's a truely great pattern to cut your colour work teeth on. I've made quite a few more of Zanetes socks, they are all such great patterns. Good Luck 😊

Been knitting for over 50 years and still feel like I need to learn so much more. But learning new techniques is what keeps me interested.
