Hi everyone! My name is Valerie and I'm from Turner, OR (right outside Salem). I'm in the idea stage of my possible microschool! In the past, being a classroom teacher was practically my whole identity before I had my daughter 3 years ago. I pivoted and became a reading specialist, working with students one on one as I opened my online/in person tutoring business. I really love it! Now I'm really conflicted about what to do next. I'm really not sure I want my daughter in full time kindergarten in 2 year and I know I have the ability to create a microschool but I have some big hesitations. 1. I know I don't want to do it myself, but the one person I think I'd work really well with has her own career path I think she's following and I wouldn't want to take her from that. How do people find other people that you can trust and have the same values as you? 2. The relief of becoming and reading specialist and not having to worry about the 372,987 other "things" typical classroom teachers have to deal with was huge. I worry if I create this, I'll be creating a ton more work for myself just on a smaller scale. I'd love to hear from other past classroom teachers about that. :) Thank you everyone! :)
