What are you practising this weekend?
I haven’t had any chance to play this weekend. Apart from a gig in town. I’m calling some tunes I don’t know that well to try and get some new tunes down. What are you working on?

A solo part and some little things of Back To Black by Amy Winehouse!
Lick of the Week
Challenge! Record your version of this, depending on what’s doable for you, either… In the original key (C Major over a G7) In a few other keys Inside an improvisation over a standard Or as we did last night in practise club, see below… We worked on this one in practise club last night. We took the pattern that this line is based on and played it all the way through all the chords in the C major scale, helping us understand why the melody works and how we can use it. What does this do? Helps us navigate the major scale with patterns and enclosures Drills the sound into our ears and fingers Serves as a technical exercise for our left hand If you are interested in trying out the jazz violin practise club for freejust send me a message or comment on this post.

It took me a second to comprehend the structure since my theory therms in English aren't that polished. But here's a try!

Hello, my name is Tyler Pérez, I'm from México, I'm a student of classic violin, branch of interpreter. But I'm also a singer and I'm learning the piano, I never really thought about a violin being present in jazz, I listel to a lot of soul but oddly I never noticed the strings one can find there, my curiosity towards violin in jazz has probably started since I heard the musical "Hadestown" in the song "Lady of the underground" there's a violin solo that just made my jaw drop. And well, now I just wanna play like that.
