New Series on exercises I think you all should have in the bag. I've chatted about the Zercher Squat before but I really believe it is under utilizes AND for the people starting the program soon, you will see this in the first week. First and foremost, they make you feel like a DOG in the gym. People will look so be prepared. These allow you to give your spine a break, add depth to your squat, fire up the core and light up your back all in one go. If I have a Pull focused day, I start with these. Great primer before pull ups or rows. IF you can't handle the but of pain from the bar, you can always use the barbell pad or a towel ... But your cool points will probably go out the window. (Jokes... Kinda) Someone give me a shot this week and post in the group.

Welcome to Barbells Fore Birdies. Glad you're here. Let me tell you exactly what this place is and what it isn't. ✅ This IS a community for the weekend warrior golfers, the vibey "old" guys, the ones who are done being comfortable. Guys who want to move like athletes, hit it further, stop destroying their backs, and actually feel dangerous on the first AND last tee. ❌ This is NOT a place for perfection, ego, or spectators. If you're here to lurk quietly and never contribute, that's fine just be respectful. I love witty banter, but back that shit up. We push each other here. We celebrate each other here. Keyboard warriors can find the exit quickly. Here's what I need from you on day one: 👉 Drop a comment below. Tell us where you're from, your handicap (or "I have no idea" is a completely valid answer), and the ONE thing you most want to fix about your game or your body, or a recent golf/gym win. That's it. One comment. Then grow from there. Lay Ups are boring... Don't be boring. — Coach Ty

Coaches lead the way - I am 35, golfing for 20+ years on and off, should be a 8-10 handicap but I struggle with consistency and drinking tequila transfusions. I sit around 15ish now but the last year has been injury ridden. I plan on taking it more seriously (to a point, I am a fitness profession first, not a golfer). Last PR in the gym was Trap Bar Deadlift, 315 for 5 reps as my last set. My 5i is at a 215-225 carry and that gives me hope. I suck at chipping (where my scores add up), hence the video series I am starting where I work on it while educating about fitness. (on YT & IG) Cheers

@Kostas Galiatsatos Ay! Nice man. I also was a notorious slicer and still am if I swing too hard. Cant get that clubface closed in time. That's actually what helped me at my set up. Close the club face a hair and don't have it too far forward in my stance. Now I am pretty consistent with the big stick!
OWN THE BASICS
Stop majoring in the minors. A lot of people want to have all the answers, try new shiny objects every other week and hope to see results when they can't even get the foundation down. This is a MASSIVE part of my training philosophy. Which every decent coach has, I want to help you BUY IN to my beliefs so you can see the results from the gym that you want. In the classroom there is a whole course with a couple modules in there that will take you 10-15 mins tops to read and take in. I will always continue to touch on these subjects obviously, because they are my beliefs. (Also, at any point if you want to search for something, just type the keyword in the search bar up top and it will take you to anything said about that topic) What are some of your strong beliefs in fitness or even golf? Anything you agree or disagree with? (Also, more golf related content will come once I heal)

Hows progress going??
Started a new plan last week from our fearless leader. Going well so far. He gave me some "Monkey Kings" for a finisher and they kicked my ass!

I think you and @Brad Tipper are the only ones to experience monkey kings so far
Just Keep Swimming
Day 2 of my rebuild. Yesterday was able to get to the gym for the first time in almost 2 months. Working through this injury and now beginning some PT type stuff to strengthen it and my weak links. Today. Extremely sore from the new exercises AND just the workout in general after that much time off. So did the best thing for those muscles. Active Recovery Warmed Up Then completed 5 - 100 meter swims with 1 minute tread in between as rest. Cooled down. That's it. Felt great. Feel loose now and ready to get back in the gym tomorrow for some upper body.
