The Sync Vault Navigation | How to Get Help
Welcome to The Sync Vault community. This only works if we all show up, so here's how to make this place valuable for everyone (including yourself). HOW TO USE THE CATEGORIES: 📍 START HERE - Read this first, introduce yourself, find your footing 🎵 Feedback & Finishing - Disco links ONLY! Share WIPs, get feedback, post accountability check-ins. 💼 Business & Pitching - PRO setup, metadata, contracts, supervisor outreach, pitch questions 🏆 Wins & Placements - Finished tracks, successful pitches, placements - celebrate here 🛠️ Tools & Resources - DAW tips, plugins, workflows, templates 💬 Off-Topic - Everything else When you post, drop it in the right category. Makes it easier for everyone to find what they need. HOW TO ASK QUESTIONS (Without Wasting Everyone's Time): DON'T ask questions Google can answer in 30 seconds. "What's a PRO?" → Google it."How do I export audio from Logic?" → YouTube it. DO ask specific, sync-related questions with context: ❌ BAD: "How do I get my music in sync?"✅ GOOD: "I've finished 3 tracks and organized my catalog in Disco. Should I pitch directly to supervisors or join a library first? I'm leaning toward libraries because I don't have contacts yet. Thoughts?" The formula: 1. Where you're at right now 2. What you've already tried/considered 3. Your specific question or 2-3 options you're weighing Give context. Don't write War & Peace. Be specific. We're all here to help, but we're also all busy finishing our own tracks. Make it easy for people to help you. HOW TO SHARE TRACKS FOR FEEDBACK: 1. Upload to Disco.ac only - We're all using it, keep everything in one place 2. Share the Disco link in Track Feedback & Finishing category 3. Be specific about what feedback you need: "Is this mix sync-ready?" "Does this hit the 'uplifting indie' vibe or miss?" "I'm stuck on the bridge at 1:32 - does it work?" General "thoughts?" posts get general responses.Specific questions get specific help.

Sorry. I have about 6 songs that need to be redone because of AI. Never knew that they did that!
🎥Your mix might be killing your sync chances.
Found a YouTube channel that's genuinely useful for sync work: Film and TV Without Music. The concept is simple - film and TV clips with the music stripped out. No score, no underscore, just the scene. Why does that matter? Because one of the hardest things to train your ear for is where your music needs to sit so it's not fighting dialogue. You can't hear that problem until you're actually placing tracks underneath real scenes with real speech frequencies. The workflow I mentioned to @David Goode : pull a clip from a show that fits the mood of your cue, drop your track underneath it, and listen for where the frequencies compete. Mid-range is where dialogue lives. That's where most sync rejections are hiding, and most composers never find it until a supervisor tells them. This channel also gives you raw material to score to picture, which is one of the fastest ways to understand how editors actually use music - and what makes a cue work or fall apart in context. Link in the comments. Go mess around with it. https://www.youtube.com/@FilmandTVWithoutMusic-um9wd

Very nice. Thank you!
Some Validation Today!
Yay! Someone likes my art! I just had two songs forwarded by Taxi to "a major league EXCLUSIVE Music Licensing Firm that's been placing TAXI members’ music in Film and TV for years" in the genre of AMBIENT NEW AGE INSTRUMENTALS. Fingers crossed, it will lead to something! The actual songs are posted under Glenn's recent request for songs that are sync ready, and for those interested, this is the brief that I responded to: ------------------------------------------------------- This Company would really love to find Down-Tempo Instrumentals that could be heard on a playlist with the following references and others like them: "Sunrise" by nelward "Freedom at the 45th Floor" by Pauline Anna Strom "Forest I" by Peter Davison "Pastel Memories" by Lionmilk Please submit Ambient New Age Instrumentals that feel both hugely spacious and deeply calming! Your Compositions should be serene and atmospheric, emphasizing slow evolution throughout, rather than more traditional "Pop" style structures. Flowing soundscapes, gentle, very slow-developing melodies and motifs, little to no rhythmic content, and an overall sense of relaxation and mindfulness are all recommended to nail this pitch. Your arrangements should be uncluttered yet immersive, with no abrupt changes, big dynamic moments, or distracting moments that might jar the listener. Instrumentation in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the references and similar Ambient New Age works is recommended, including airy synthesizers, synth pads, gentle piano, soft strings, drones, and organic elements like chimes or light sound design. If you're using virtual instruments or samples, they need to be high-quality and current-sounding. Original Compositions only, please! All submissions should be around 2 to 4 minutes in length, give or take. Buttoned endings with a natural fade-out will work best. Do NOT copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

I have been playing music for 35 years. I play the guitar and piano and create songs. I write mostly rock songs but some could be considered indie.
