Exercise recommendations?
Hey skate friends! Anyone have recommendations for loosening stiff ankles? Can’t seem to get into a shoot the duck position cuz my ankles don’t want to flex like that…

I do a variety of toe raises (standing & mostly sitting) to build leg muscle strength connecting to ankle & sometimes sit on floor to use resistant band. Easier to challenge toe raise angles while sitting. 1 of my GO-TO foot exercises since I sprained my ankle once when I was younger (not a pleasant feeling) & occasionally twist my ankle.
Leg strengthen tips
What exercises can I do to lift my legs while skating. I still get nervous😕 lifting my foot in skates & want to overcome it. Open for all advice

Newbie still
Hello everyone, Thanks for the add. I join this group to get better at skating. I started teaching myself at the age of 40 and it’s not looking to good. But it going very slow. Then I got hurt and stopped for about to years. The. Got back on about 3 months ago but I lost 115 pounds since then so now it feels like I never learned all over again. I didn’t know much before but how to go around in a circle without falling. But it was progress for me. But now I would like to add on it. Hopefully this group I will get that. Anyone from Texas in this group. I drive trucks still right now so my schedule is all over the place. But I have a new position so my schedule will change soon and I will have more time to practice like I want to. I just want to be able to skate with all the grown folks backwards in slow motion to the sexy music. 🤣🥰😜

hi Shilil🙋🏾‍♀️ You Got This💪🏾 I'm getting back to skating again after taking almost a year off from my foot injury. Rehabbing back to skating🛼 is challenging & fun. Back to Basic for me as well😊
Why did you start skating?
Hey skaters! Curiosity is calling my name. I love asking this question. I will even answer it myself. 💜 My story: When I left school my sophomore year and switched to online, I suddenly found myself without many friends. Honestly i was very lonely. Skating had always been part of my life, but everything changed in 2023 when I discovered rhythm skating. I didn’t expect much from it, but I quickly fell in love- with the movement, the community, and the joy it brought me. Skating became therapeutic, helped me rebuild friendships, and shaped the person I am today. I truly can’t imagine my life without it. Skating fills the void nothing else could.

Grew up w/ family who love to roller skate. I took to inline skating & ice skating quicker than roller skating. it's a therapeutic😌 mind+body+soul challenge of exercise + dance + skill for me. I like watching & learning more experience skaters. Love that vibe & encouragement from other skaters- that energy is a confidence booster. I've been skating off & on whenever I have some free time from work & want to learn how to be more skater skillful. Working on squeezing time to visit skate rinks again
Roller Skate Buyers Guide📖
I'm creating a roller skate buyers guide and I'm curious what questions do you guys have around buying roller skates, equipment, parts, and accessories? It could be as simple as what is a good first pair of skates or as high-level as when do I know if it's the right time for me to upgrade to custom top-tier pair of roller skates. Lay it all out because I want this to be a comprehensive guide for beginners and advanced skaters alike.
