Turning 45 this year, so I got myself a present 😎 This is a 2001 Ibanez JSM100, first year of production, made in Japan. Built to replicate John Scofield's 1981 AS200, the guitar he's been playing his whole career. Mine is from that first batch. A lucky find from a dear friend who was clearing out part of his collection and kept this one aside for me. Today was the first practice session with her. Still adapting to the feel, even a great instrument requires adjustment when you switch. But I wanted to document the first day, so I played a Bb jazz blues over Tenor Madness changes and called it JSM100 Blues. Nothing fancy. Just noodling with target notes, chromatic approaches and neighbor tones. Letting the guitar talk a little on day one. Hope you enjoy it 😊🎸🎶

Hi JGA’s. It’s so long ago since my last post…. However, I am regularly playing and practicing. Currently I am on Solar “swinging” (1.2,3/1,2,3/1,2,3/1,2,3 - respectively 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 - you know what I mean…). I am not yet fully satisfied (80% maybe). I will slow it down and redo…. How do you practice swing? I am listening to songs trying to hear the triplets and as well to identify if there are none. In addition, for my 60th birthday I bought a 1951 Gibson ES-5 (not the one from T-Bone Walker, but same model…) which you can see and hear here. Maybe I will post soon the melody on my loop. I'm leaving Jazz Guitar Accelerator. I'm moving on to writing music. Thank you Marc-Andre for your quality teaching, your dedication to your students, and the many accomplishments over the years (I've followed you for quite a few years now). This kid is really special. I've only seen him doing jazz before. I know this is outside the scope of our studies, but his right-hand technique is unbelievable to me. He's obviously listened to Eddie 😁
