Did you know that we observe National Safety Month every June? By increasing safety awareness, the hope is to reduce the leading causes of unintentional injuries and deaths at work, on the road, and in communities. This month marks the 30th anniversary of National Safety Month. There are four themes throughout the month. - Week 1 (last week) was "Moving Safety Forward," focusing on advancing a proactive culture of safety by using forward-thinking strategies, tools, and planning to prevent accidents before they happen. - Week 2 (this week) is "Staying Safe on the Roads" - Week 3 will be "Promoting Holistic Worker Health" - Week 4 will be "Preventing Slips, Trips, and Falls" What can you do to participate? Here are a few ideas: - Consider completing First Aid or CPR Training - Take a defensive driving course - Do some safety checks around the home - check smoke alarms, identify fire escape plans - Host or participate in safety training or hazard recognition drills in the workplace How do you handle safety at home or at work? Do you feel that you are proactive enough, or do you think you could do more? Where do you fall on the sliding scale?
