The Simplest Way to Improve Your Content
What’s up everyone—Nate here, Danny’s full-time content manager. One of the biggest mistakes I see coaches make is trying to create content that looks impressive instead of content that’s actually useful. Before posting, ask yourself: 1. Who is this video for? (players, coaches, ages, skill levels) 2. What problem does it solve? (or what value is it providing) 3. Is the main takeaway clear within the first few seconds? 4. Does it show people why they should trust me as a coach? 5. What do I want them to do after watching? You don’t need expensive equipment or complicated editing. A clear message, a strong opening line, and one practical takeaway will outperform a random workout montage most of the time. If your goal is to get more clients, content is a non-negotiable. The goal isn’t just to get views. Your content should help the right players and parents understand how you coach and why your service is valuable. Inside VIP, I’ll be sharing more of the strategies, systems, and lessons we use behind the scenes to manage Danny’s content and how to implement it into yours.

My opinion is likely not even half as informed as yours, given your role, but I really couldn't agree more. Fire stuff 🔥
How I Make Offseason Film Breakdowns for Players
Making film breakdowns for players is one of the best ways to separate yourself as a development coach. Check out this film breakdown framework I made for Golden State Valkyries Player, Kaitlyn Chen back in 2023: https://www.skool.com/dannycooperbasketball/classroom/bc70514d?md=0a8f8ce7b7a44e38abbb2d813b206eaa A great film breakdown does 3 things: 1. Helps a player identify their strengths and weaknesses 2. Helps a player see areas for improvement 3. Gives them a guided plan to attack weaknesses

I love when you do this type of content. I am heavy on using film to inform my workouts, and also to allow the player to see affordances, opportunities, and so forth. Your stuff has been great for me to learn from. When I'm out of team practice this afternoon I'm definitely tapping into this, and I'll lyk my takeaways!
Most important skills for young HS players
Whats up everybody, I coach at a club basketball program on the central coast and my director has been wanting me set up private training with the players. I have set up some group workouts and the age range is 7th - 9th. The point of these workouts is to work on the skills most needed for players just entering or who just entered high school basketball. Workouts will be starting in a few weeks and I'm in the process of creating practice plans. What do you guys think are important concepts / skills I should focus on in my workouts with these players? Some I have already thought of: handling pressure, reading closeouts, shooting, driving angles).

1000% on the things you named. One thing I've learned is, regardless of measurements, playing high level defense and shooting off the catch at a high level will get you and keep you on the floor. I'm super bias, but I believe defense isn't worked on enough. It can most definitely be taught, on a technical level and also through ssg's and live action. If you're already running ssg's, then defense is being worked on, I would just say to supplement that with teaching leverage, on ball footwork, steal timing, how to respond to defender taking high/or low foot, etc. You named the big ones though, so your going to do great, and those kids will definitely get better!
Free session update
Today, I offered a free morning session to parents in my new local area here in Texas. I got the leads from adding myself to a local group on Facebook. The parents unfortunately didn’t show. That’s didn’t stop my son and I from putting in work. We got conditioning and skill work in. Back to the drawing board!
