Need help with diag
2016 jeep compass throttle position faults. These were known for bad throttle bodies. CST had it replaced 4 years ago. I got it a few weeks ago. CST c/o lack of power, vehicle won’t go over 2000 rpm. Air filter is fine. Scanned faults, throttle position faults. APP 1 and 2 are reading correct. Power and ground at the T/B are good. Accepts throttle relearn. I test drive it, feels fine at first then it’s falling on its face and won’t speed up. I replace the throttle body twice with same brand and both failed within 2 days. I take the old ones out and shake them, you can hear something loose inside the TB like it came apart internally. Replaced it a third time with a different brand and CST says it’s dying on him. Yes I did throttle relearn every time I replaced it. The most updated part from Jeep is discontinued so that’s not an option. What more should I do besides tell the guy to go buy a new car. This vehicle has the option for single 6 pins in a row or 2 row offset pins. This car was wired from factory with dual row offset pins, TSB from Jeep says to change the connector and install updated throttle body that’s discontinued. My guess is that they were having such problems with these things they changed manufactures and that’s why the connector changed. He needs to sell it off and go buy a Toyota/Honda but he doesn’t have the money for it

@LongHaul TrailerRepair I’ll check drag test. Heard they the grapevine that the connector is a point of failure. That would explain why Chrysler updated the connector

failure point is the connector itself so have to get new connector from Chrysler but they changed the design so get a new TB as well. Then pin 3 on old connector does not go to pin 3 on new. Had to find the correct pin out from summit racing. Stupid jeep problems. Now the guy says the car is dying while driving. Like I told the guy he needs to sell this thing. I’ll go check the oil level when I have time. Heard that could cause the engine to turn off if it sees oil low
Sexist subaru
2914 Subaru Outback 200k miles. No faults. Intermittent no start only when the wife is trying to start the car and she swears by it. Husband and I cannot duplicate concern. She swears she isn’t hitting any pedals or whatnot. Happened more often when then we’re down in FL. Did not really happen in snowy NJ when they were on holiday. I replaced their battery before their trip because it was low but fault still exists and the wife doesn’t want to drive it but we can’t get it to happen for us. Any thoughts?
Tekmetric
Another tekmetric question for you guys that have used it! Do you think tekmetric (START) Is good to start with the start package or go with the more grow or scale package I am a one man show, I have all the other programs like all data, identifix ext … I have a basic invoice system that works I mark my parts up but with no way to track any of that at the end of the day just labour rate Im also from Canada these prices go up cause our dollar sucks! I really want a program where I can track profit margins, overall growth ext

I have access to all data from an old dealer so I get my labor times from there and I just use the start. It’s been working real good for me

I was doing it for 5 weeks part time. Got laid off from the dealer due to conflict of interest of me having my own automotive business so I had to go full steam ahead. It slowly picked up steam. Once December 1 hit I got real busy. Made I think 10k gross this month. Not bad for 3rd month in business and it’s only going up from there
Oscilloscopes
Hey guys I want to get into oscilloscopes and oscilloscope training, is there any good training and a reasonably priced oscilloscope out there? Thanks

Check out mechanic mindset. Does an awesome job teaching step by step how to use pico software. I have a 2204a and it’s a niche tool but helpful
