Why taking ownership might be the breakthrough you need right now
“Take ownership of everything in your world. Take ownership of your mistakes. Take ownership of your shortfalls. Take ownership of your problems. And then take ownership of the solutions that will get those problems solved.” - Jocko Willink Jocko Willink reminds us that growth begins when we stop blaming everything around us and start taking responsibility for our lives. It’s easy to point fingers at circumstances, other people, or bad timing. But real progress happens when you ask, “What can I do about it?” Owning your mistakes doesn’t make you weak. It makes you stronger, wiser, and more in control of your future. The moment you take ownership is the moment you take your power back. What’s one area of your life where you need to take more ownership?

@Bill Boone I am exactly like you, Bill! I might not be a financial expert yet, but I truly believe that investing in our health and personal value is the key. When we build that strength from within, sustainable revenue will naturally follow. I'll keep moving forward while exploring different approaches, and lately, I've been feeling much better.

Thank you for this powerful post. I realized my own pain stems from total dependency, which is why I want to coach my clients on autonomy. After 4 years, I am gently taking back control, starting to prepare and take charge of my own life

The Scale & The Oversized Shirt
There is one thing I despise most in the gym: the scale. Honestly, I believe in quiet, consistent hustle over quick fixes. When some clients first start out, they carry a massive amount of insecurity. They constantly hide behind baggy, oversized t-shirts. Even when I tell them, "Hey, try wearing something a bit tighter so I can track your movements and alignment," they hesitate. Fear holds them back. To me, success isn’t about forcing someone onto a scale to see how many pounds they’ve dropped. Success is watching them show up patiently every day. It’s watching them gain control over their bodies and give their all to every single micro-movement. And then, one day, they actively strip away that insecurity, put on a form-fitting shirt, and stand there radiant and proud. Why do I hate the scale? Because it’s a trap for people who don't put in the work consistently, yet climb onto it every day expecting a miracle. Real results are measured by small wins and daily habits. When you haven’t put in the time and sweat, obsessing over a number will only leave you frustrated and ready to quit. This obsession with the scale is exactly what happens in business. Instead of focusing on your internal growth and core values to build trust with your clients, if you constantly look around at giant corporations or copy others' overnight success, you will easily lose your way. True momentum must come from the solid foundation you build within your own growth. So, please put the scale away! Focus on your execution and master your own movements. When you build a solid foundation from within, the outside results will take care of themselves in the most powerful and brilliant way.

Small Steps Matter
Not every win has to be huge. Small steps still move you forward. One workout. One video. One better decision. One more try. Consistency builds the life you want. What small step can you take today?

Whenever I feel unmotivated, I turn to valuable content from Evan Carmichael’s YouTube channel. I learned a solo video production plan that clicked for me, and I decided to apply it immediately to face my biggest fear: producing videos. The result? I’ve broken free from the perfectionist trap and am now consistently posting two videos a day using nothing but my iPhone. I’ve also adopted a minimalist approach to cut out all the tedious editing. Here is the process I’ve adopted: LEAN CONTENT PRODUCTION FRAMEWORK: Step 1: Define your persona, target audience, and hooks. Step 2: Use AI to input the topic and length, and let it generate the script. Step 3: Use the Teleprompter feature on CapCut to read the script naturally. Step 4: Trim the beginning and end – Done – Publish! I really resonate with these principles and find them highly sustainable: Consistency & Strategy: Trust the process wholeheartedly. Authenticity over Complexity: The audience doesn't need fancy editing; they want to hear from someone trustworthy and empathetic who can communicate clearly without jargon. Systematic Discipline: Integrate filming into my daily routine specifically in the early morning before anyone arrives at the studio to ensure accountability..
When I'm still in the small stage (A lesson from a barber)
This morning, I went out of my way to visit my regular barber who had just moved to a new location. I didn't even get a notification about the move, but I still made the effort to find him. Why? Because I realized that I (as a customer) return not necessarily because of heavy advertising or a fancy storefront, but because of the value and the feeling that the barber himself provides. Sitting and talking with him for a while, I heard a lot about the pressures of building a business out of passion. He has the passion. He has excellent skills. But... his staff still rely on him way too much, and his clients only want him to do their hair. He is stuck in his own business. Coincidentally, later on, I met another guy running a much larger salon model. What I learned from him is: When a business grows, the owner has to start looking at everything through systems (finance, HR, processes) rather than emotions. At this point, just being "good at your craft" is no longer enough. These two conversations gave me a new perspective: In this day and age, small businesses will easily burn out if they try to chase the model of big corporations. Those who came before had to trade a lot of money, many hard lessons, and years of experience to build their systems. As for those of us still in the small stage, maybe we need to learn how to: • Slow down a bit. • Understand our true value better. • Focus on serving our current clients better instead of trying to expand too fast. What made me think the most is the difference in "Value Logic" across different professions. For example, with hair styling, customers usually return because of their dependence on the skills and the feeling they get from that specific stylist. But with my Fitness Coaching business, I realized my goal isn't to make clients dependent on me, but to help them: • Understand their bodies better. • Become more independent and confident. • Be able to walk confidently into the gym even when their Coach isn't around. A sustainable business isn't just about how long you keep a client, but about how much you've helped them grow during that journey.

@Kim Ivy Busa Thank you 🙏 I really agree with this. I think that’s the hard transition for many founders: moving from everything depends on me to building systems, people and values that can continue growing beyond just one person. And yes… in fitness, I believe the best coaching is helping people become more independent, not more dependent.

@George Markovic Your 30 years of experience speaks the absolute truth. Relying heavily on human resources without a proper system is a trap that turns the founder into a hostage of their own business. In fact, I had to fire my entire staff at the end of 2025 because of this exact lesson. While watching my competitors expand their locations and constantly hire new faces, I chose to remain a 'one-woman army' and turn my focus toward modern technology. Confronted with this reality, I realized a small model can still thrive if we use technology to handle repetitive tasks. Humans forget, but automation does not. A lean model can still provide excellent care, and I am currently packaging my processes to fit a lean tier of products. As a new-generation fitness educator, your words inspire me to reflect deeper on automation. Technology should take over the repetitive, non-personalized tasks to protect my energy. Automation can easily manage scheduling, billing, tracking, or broadcasting general reminders that every client needs to maintain. By letting systems do the operational heavy lifting, my energy is preserved for what truly matters. Because in my expertise, AI and technology can never replace the human touch. Technology cannot feel the subtle shifts in a client's breathing, nor can it visually diagnose and fix movement errors in real-time. That requires the trained eyes and the presence of a real movement educator. Right now, I am experimenting with simple forms and templates that my staff can easily take on, while preparing myself to study deeper into technological processes. Tech is not my expertise, so I would love to hear more of your thoughts and advice on this. Thank you so much!
