🐴 GET GOOD HORSEMANSHIP TIP 4.
✨ Positive energy isn’t fluff, it’s biology - I call this ‘survival intelligence’. Horses are exquisitely tuned to our body, breath, tension, and hormones. They feel the calm before we speak and the worry before we move. That sensitivity isn’t magic - it’s how they stay alive. When we arrive grounded, regulated, and open, we don’t just feel better to them, we make sense. And when a horse feels safe, learning becomes possible. Question: What about regulation would you like help Getting Good at next? Zoë 🐴✨🫶

It’s sometimes hard to remember being aware of everything going on in my body when the horse have a lot going on in his and I am trying to help him. I have a tendency when on ground to stop breathing and tend up in my shoulders and jawe. On the saddle I struggle with my hip 🤷‍♀️ And off course emotions in my self depends on the day. Some days training horses is just not the best idea ☺️ Luckily I have on horse that is easy going and I feel we know each other so well so I can just saddle up and go for a ride and my day always gets better. With my araibian who thinks the world is a scary place I need to be on place emotionally before trying to tell him it’s okay ☺️

Hei ☺️ I am Therese from Norway. I have to araibians and one Shetland pony. I feel my horsemanship is okay. It’s better on ground than in the saddle. My old araibian (that I have had since he was a foal) and the Shetland is left brain horses. I feel I have a good partnership with those two. My other araibian that I have had for 3 years now (he is 15 with some baggage) is the complete opposite. He is right brain who think the world is a scary place, gets easily on adrenaline. At the same time he is the sweetest horse that really tries his best to please and be kind. My goal with him is to be a better partner when I am In the saddle. I want him to find calmness in his own body and don’t go to adrenaline, fight and flight so fast.

@Zoë Coade he was a lot the same on ground as he is in the saddle when I got him. But I feel more skilled and safe on the ground so I have done more ground work with him so he is better now, but still can get into flight mode now to. He is a lot better when we work closely together, than when we have more distance. After the first year I had had him shifted and got more relaxed her at home on our farm and I could feel that he trusted me more. He have in his earlier years (before me) shifted stables a lot and people who have handled and ridden him. I don’t think this is something that have been good for him, so now tre years her in my farm with just me and my husband handeling the horses and a stabil group of horses is good for him. But on ground we have worked a lot with him going up to scary objects and since everything is pretty much scary for him it’s easy to find things 😅 He is a big Cookie Monster so he now knows if he gets scared of something (a rock for example) he gets a cookie if he walks to it and touches it. I feel this little job have helped him to start using his brain in the scary situations. So yes he can downshift on the ground but we have a long way to go yet. ☺️ And off course it depends on the day to.
