Welcome to our new members
A few of you joined specifically for customer service + de-escalation support—so I wanted to point you exactly where to go. You’ll also find related trainings already inside the community, including: - Right Isn’t Always Effective - Mind Matters & Dark Psychology - The Crayon Box Theory - Emotional Intelligence for High Performers - What Happens When No One Owns the Valve - Great Leader Series - Burnout Series ✅ And I just added TWO new courses today (both include attached PDFs): 1. Calm on Deck: Customer Service + De-escalation 2. Front Desk Confidence: Handle Complaints Without Meltdowns Go enjoy them—and more importantly, use them. If you try the drills with your team, come back and tell us what worked. If you get a short video of your staff practicing (even 15 seconds), share it. We all get better together. To access the courses: - Members go to Classroom (top menu) to see courses. - Inside a course, they open a module/lesson. - Navigation is typically Next (arrow/button) to move forward lesson-by-lesson. - Videos play by clicking Play. - PDFs/links are commonly near the bottom of the lesson, but sometimes they can appear near the top depending on how the lesson was built—so it’s best to say “in the lesson” and “often near the bottom.”

Quick roll call
I’m realizing I’ve been the main poster here, and I want this to become a real working community—not a feed. Comment with 3 quick things: 1. I’m a: (lifeguard / instructor / manager / owner / vendor / other) 2. My biggest stuck point right now is: ____ 3. I can help others with: ____ No long answers needed—1 sentence each.

@Kathy Welch if you had to identify one thing causing your burn out what would it be?

@Neva Fairfield I have, the only people in Colorado are me and my staff😪
Why I am here...
Hey everyone — quick update and an invitation. 💛 Right now, the entire Naviating Neva Skool space is 100% free. Every course, every module, every lesson. And I’ve built it this way on purpose, because I want aquatic professionals, instructors, parents, and leaders to have real support while we grow this community together. Here’s what’s coming next: 1️⃣ Once we reach 200 members, the Skool will become a paid community. (or maybe not, you can vote.) Nothing changes today — but when we hit that number, we’ll shift into a paid model so I can keep creating the depth of training, tools, and support you’ve all been asking for. If there’s someone you want to invite, now is the perfect time to bring them in while it’s still free. 2️⃣ When we reach 100 members, some courses will become paid modules. Not all — I’ll always keep core training and foundational content free. But specialty courses, leadership tracks, in-service modules, trauma-aware aquatics, and advanced trainings will eventually move to the paid tier. If you want full access locked in, join now and share it with someone who would love it. 3️⃣ I’m happy to create courses you request. If there’s something you want for: - In-service training - Staff development - Instructor onboarding - Special populations (ADHD, autism, trauma-aware, sensory profiles) - Leadership, communication, or deck management Just tell me. This Skool exists to make your work easier, your team stronger, and your teaching smoother.

You should be compensated for your hard work and ideas! I require my head guards to watch videos and take trainings this is how I am able to fit leadership training into the budget.

@Neva Fairfield At this pool, I don't do my budget either. At times I wish I could. Which is why I use this platform for my staff.
Quick reflection:
When you walk into a room—does the room settle… or tighten? Your emotional state influences everyone around you. Leaders and parents most of all. What’s one habit that helps you regulate before you respond?

I feel that in general the room settles, I could be wrong. I have worked very hard to clearly communicate with my team. I set standards and hold people accountable, which is so exhausting at times and I think that when they know they have not done what I expect there is an unspoken tension- they know I am going to speak to the elephant in the room. I also think that is why in general most of my team relaxes they know I am going to address any unfairness and laziness I see. They know I will go to war for them; I will not leave them when things are crazy. I will walk them through an emergency and make sure they are healthy after, I absolutely do not tolerate a patron be rude to them, I let them know often I appreciate them. My habits- I try to think how would I want a boss to talk to/ help my kid in this situation?
