💌 Send. Receive. Send Again.
A little gentle reminder that the magic doesn't have to end when you've sent your letter and received one back. The purpose of these exchanges isn't simply to tick off one letter and move on. It's to connect you with other women in a slower, more thoughtful way and, who knows… perhaps even the beginning of a lifelong pen pal friendship. Not every match will feel like an instant connection, and that's perfectly okay. Some friendships grow slowly, one letter at a time. But if someone has taken the time to sit down, put pen to paper, and send a little piece of their world to you, a small reply or thank you note is always a lovely thing to receive in return. It lets them know their letter arrived safely and was appreciated 💛 There are no rules around continuing to write. You don't need to reply straight away. You don't need to write every month. You don't need to become best friends overnight. But if your letter made you smile, consider keeping the chain going in some way. 💌 Write a short thank you note. 💌 Send a postcard a few weeks later. 💌 Ask another question and see where the conversation leads. And if life gets busy, that's okay too. Keep your letter somewhere you'll see it—a desk, a bedside table, tucked inside a book. Let it be a gentle reminder that there's a real person on the other side of that envelope. Because sometimes the most meaningful connections begin with… Send. Receive. Send again. 💌✨

I honestly feel that it’s not necessary to keep it going for every PenPal you get. As you say, writing back once can be enough, sometimes it can be more letters, but that’s something that should happen spontaneously. I reckon that I wouldn’t be able to keep up with +10 penpals, so if I get to that point I would then have to stop joining new rounds, which for me is actually a big part of the fun, to write to new people and receive post from new people.

@Julie Burns I’ve responded to every one of my received letters so far and I’ve received a response from almost all my own sent letters too. I feel at least one returning letter should be in order, and from there you can decide to keep on writing or not (I have a couple that I reckon we’ll be keeping it going 💖)

@Julie Burns hmmm perhaps it's better to not add it to the match algorithm, and just leave it as an "extra info" thing, because I reckon not everyone will be filling it out... and that'll maybe "constrain" some matches... If I'm very honest with you, I speak and write Spanish and Dutch, but I feel more comfortable writing in English as that's the language I've been using almost daily for over 30 years. So if I have the choice I'd write in English without a doubt 😅

@Julie Burns ahhh you see I love that idea, it doesn't have to be a whole letter in a different language, it can also just be a little piece, something the recipient will enjoy. This is a great idea! Love it!
