Has anyone photographed a snake?
Has anyone photographed a snake? I had some call today and wants their albino hognose baby snake photographed. It’s about 12”. We’re doing it tomorrow. Any tips or tricks? I’m not afraid of snakes and think it’ll be kinda cool. Just want some ideas to try out. Thanks!

@Stacey Sherman Thanks Stacey. I did ask them to bring something that it can climb on like a branch but she said they burrow more than climb. I did mention a heat lamp and she was going to ask her daughter; that’s whose snake it is. I just got a tabletop v-flat, so am going to try to use it. They’re also bringing a black Cocker Spaniel but those will be separate pictures. I like the thought of the daughter holding it wrapped on her arms. I’ll see if it will be willing to do that. Oh, the snakes name is Rose and she is pink! 😂 🐍

@Stacey Sherman I’ll see if I can get a group shot of all three. I kinda have a reflective surface. It’s black. It’s part of the vflat. I practiced with it tonight some but the reflective part was a bit tricky. I’ll see if I can swing it.
🎁 A Special Surprise Is Coming… and YOU Get First Access! | 12 Days of Howliday Marketing Boost 🎄
I’ve been quietly building something behind the scenes… and you’re going to be the very first to hear about it. This December, I’m releasing 12 Days of Howliday Marketing Boost — a brand-new interactive holiday challenge created just for pet photographers who want to increase their visibility, book more clients, and finally feel more confident in their marketing. Think of it like an advent calendar… But instead of chocolate, you unlock a new AI-powered marketing “gift” every day. Each tool gives you: - A quick win - A piece of content you can use immediately - Practical, pet-photographer-specific marketing ideas - A boost of momentum during the busiest (and sometimes most overwhelming) season of the year Some of the gifts you’ll unwrap include: - Blog post generator - Reel script generator - Holiday offer creator - 40/40/20 content calendar - Email ideas - Myth-busting carousel prompts - Lead magnet ideas - Past client outreach scripts… and lots more. Every tool is built to help you attract your ideal client, boost engagement, and show up consistently without spending hours planning content. Why am I telling you first? Because this community means everything to me, and you’ll be the first to: - See the beta version - Test the tools - Give feedback - AND get early access before I share it publicly If you’ve been feeling stuck, unsure what to post, or you want to stay visible in the holiday season when everyone is winding down, this is going to help you massively. I’m planning to launch this on December 8th. More details coming shortly… keep your eyes here. But in the meantime I am looking for 2-3 people to beta test it for me. It’ll be first come first serve. Comment HOWLIDAY if you want to test it out. Let’s make this the season you feel confident, consistent, and booked.

Hey there from Oklahoma!
Guess I haven’t introduced myself, though I’ve been in this group for a bit (or maybe I forgot to check it off that I did an intro) 🤷‍♀️ Anyway, I’m Suzy from Edmond, OK. I’ve been doing dog photography for about 7 years. I raised and trained my 4 Border Collies, who keep me very busy.🤪 They have trick dog titles and I’ve done agility, dock diving, and disc with some of them. They love being my models and are so goofy. I was recently named Oklahoma’s Photographer of the Year through PPOK (Pro Photogs of OK) in the general division (meaning I don’t have a masters in photo photography), was named Top 10 photographer, won the Animal Portrait category, Judge’s Choice, and Honorable Mention. I was shocked and so excited. I also earned my Associate’s Accreditation with IPPA. I desperately need a marketing plan and tweaks to my business side. I do IPS but struggle getting my ideal client-that I know is out there!

@Stacey Sherman thank you so much! I’ve only sold 1 Guild so far and I have 2 samples for myself. Part of the reason I’m needing help finding my ideal client. Guilds are so gorgeous and I feel so many people should have one!

Book Project Debrief
So at the start of this year I started a book project. This was my 2nd book project. My first one I did in 2021 and the reason why it took so long for me to do the second one was because I didn't have a good experience with the first one. Mainly because I did everything myself, I was also still working a full time job, didn't qualify the leads so let everyone who applied in, shot 48 sessions for the book in the space of 6 months but then took over 9 months following to try and to put the book together together and I think it traumatised me (i know, it's dramatic but i feel like that's why it took me so long to do another one). Anyway, I'm not sure how useful this is but I just did a launch debrief for my workshop launch so I thought I'd do the same for the book project. Goal: 30 sessions Total sessions filled for the book: 26 Registration fee $150 Donated to charity (50%) - $1950 No of people upgraded: 22 No. of clients purchased: 25 out of 26 Total product sales made: $70,572 Average sale: $2,714.31 Ad spend: $0 Business Sponsors: $8000 ( 1 sponsor at $5k, 1 sponsor at $1k and 4 sponsors at $500). Cost of proof reading and publishing (layout design) - TBC but quote was for $4000 plus $200 for proofreading. Printing quote is around $4500-5000 for 100 copies. Clients came through organically, email list, or emailing existing clients. I also got free publicity in the media using press releases I sent out. I did spend $30 on printing flyers which I dropped at some vets and groomers. Lessons learnt: Outsource putting the book together to someone else. Getting business sponsors was really good (I didn't come up with this idea, thank you, Jes Wasik got business sponsors for her book project so I decided to try and do the same) in that it allowed me to use that cost to put towards paying someone to design and put the book together. Qualify and call all leads. I had qualified leads this time instead of just letting everyone who applied to be in the book. I had a phone call and then an in-person consultation for each one (except for existing clients). All indicated they spent, except one decided at the end that she wasn't in a financial position to purchase. She did however say she may purchase at a later stage.

Do you recommend Caitlyn’s course to do a first book? I guess that’s the only way to get to use the “Tails” name?
