I’ve read almost every popular personal finance book. And some unpopular ones too. I think most of the authors mean well. But… For most business owners… Especially internet based biz owners… Most of the personal finance rules RUIN a biz person’s chance at true financial independence. This is why… …even though biz owners make more than the average, they often don’t have much to show for it except higher levels of stress, family discord and health issues. So… I thought maybe? It might be useful to dissect some of the “popular” personal finance philosophy. Rules? Or Ruin? My book... Make Em Beg to Buy ...is about preselling to others before you even make an offer... What I didn't write about is that the 5Ps of Preselling is a fantastic tool for preselling yourself on taking the necessary actions to get any result you want in life. One of the criticisms I get about the 5Ps is that I don't talk about PROMISE as one of the 5Ps. Why didn't I make PROMISE the 6th P? (All those offer books say to promise stuff.) Well... For one... Make Em Beg to Buy is about PRESELLING - not selling. AND... The BIGGER REASON... Is PROMISE is a poor tool for getting others or yourself to take action. Everyone wants 6-pack abs, 6 figures and 6 ounces of Gold. BUT FEW... VERY, VERY, FEW... Are willing to pay the PRICE! PRICE is one of the most important things to PRESELL yourself or others on...to get them to take action. In life... We get to choose our PRICE more than we do the PROMISE. We all want healthy teeth. (Promise) But we choose a PRICE (either brush and floss or LOSE THE TEETH.) This is why dentists say, "Only floss the teeth you want to keep." We all want to retire young, with lots of moolah. (Promise) But... Very few are willing to pay the PRICE. So they pay the price they CHOOSE, which is retiring old, with little money, hoping their kids and the guvmint will take care of them. There is ALWAYS, ALWAYS a PRICE TO BE PAID! When we CHOOSE our PRICE consciously...we get more of what we CHOOSE. Choose more DoorDash. We get to choose fatter tummies, fatter asses, thinner wallets, diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol meds, hospital stays and less ownership income in the future. (PRICE) Goals are for sissies IMO. Everyone gotta goal! Few futher muckers are PRESOLD on the price. I know LOA peeps wanna dream and cream. This is why self-help and the law of attraction are so popular. "Just manifest? No price to pay?", they are IN for that. But... THERE IS A PRICE TO PAY!
