Tonight's paint along Wed 6th May
A beautiful sunset boat scene this evening in watercolour. All you need is a basic set of colours and a white gouache. I hope to see you there and fingers crossed, no tech gremlins. Youtube at 7.30

Well, I gave it a go! Not happy with the colour distribution and the birds look very strange but thanks, Julie, for the tip about watercolour pencils. I dug mine out and used them to try to rescue this. All a learning curve - for sure.

@Suzanne P thank you, Suzanne
Paint along
Thankyou so much @Julie Ford , really enjoyed your paint along. Braved the painting at the same time as you rather than just watch, see if I could do it! Not to bad me thinks.

That looks so much more in control than I managed. Finished mine off today. It is a good thing to paint a long - really feel that there is connection with the process - we are all in it together.

Live learnings
I really enjoyed the paint along this week and have attached my final version. If you haven't done it yet these are the changes I would make if starting again: 1. Mask out the plant and light foilage 2. Paint the background first and just add the darker trees over 3. Add another layer of darker paint to the trees in the foreground 4. Make the red flowers larger and start with a lighter pink for highlights. You can access the recording here: Tuscan Flowers Do share what you create in the group and tag it #TuscanFlowers. Please do give my youtube a thumbs up and click on subscribe. It helps my channel to be shared with other painters.

I love your chrome reflections. Do you live somewhere sunny? Reflections in chrome do happen here but not so frequently.
Paint along learnings
Yellow tulips. Next time I would leave lighter/white areas in the tulips and more very light green for the leaves. Maybe even a bluer green. My washes should have been darker initially. I overdid the grasses I should have used alizarin on the tulips and back wall initially to give depth and shade Do share your creations

My effort. Really getting to know my colours , their names and how they perform this week.

@Julie Ford thank you, Julie. Your Wednesday evening paint a longs really help to keep me being creative. If there is a set time it stops me from distracting myself with the washing, other housework or tv watching. It likes a necessary (although not obligatory) appointment that needs to be kept.
