Checking in before I say goodbye for a bit
Hello, I haven't been on here for months and it's mainly been because I've had absolutely zero energy and so have had to ration out my spoons carefully. So I'll be saying adieu for a bit whilst I do some work 1 to 1 with somebody who I hope can help me which means I need to focus all my finances into that. I've enjoyed what I managed to access and wish everyone well xx
Keep showing up, it works!
I’m feeling quite excited today. I realised late last night that I had forgotten my anti-inflammatory medication yesterday morning. I wasn’t in pain so I figured I would wait until this morning to take it, I forgot again. I am currently 85 hours since my last dose. This is huge for me you guys! I have tried and failed to come off of this medication because my back pain was so crippling, as were the side effects of removing the medicine too quickly in the past. When I met Keris, one of the first things that I said to her was how I wanted more than anything to stop taking this medication. Let’s backtrack. I have had back since 2021. It came on within a week of learning that my ex-husband (from a toxic relationship) had passed away. At the time I hadn’t noticed that connection, I just thought I slept funny. After many MRI’s, x-rays, and doc visits I learned about non-existent spinal discs and degeneration, etc. This began years of Physio, more tests with worsening news, and specialist Rheumatologists. The anti-inflammatory drugs and physio made life more tolerable, I would have small wins and feel pretty ok, but never 100%. Always having a sneaking suspicion there was an emotional connection that had never been addressed as I had tried everything else. Then I met Keris and Matt at a retreat. I was so lucky to cross paths with these two gems. Keris spoke about emotions and Matt shared his strength training wisdom. I put these tools into effect including joining MBM last November. The change has been real for me. I was able to slowly decrease my meds, taking away a dose – I had been taking two per day. I did that for 6 weeks, then I reduced to 1 every 36 hours and more recently 1 every 48. Here’s the thing, I am lifting heavy weights and my back doesn’t hurt, I am volunteering doing heavy manual labour for a weekend at a time and my back doesn’t hurt, this past week I had a few long hiking days and walked about 110km – no pain. I’ve definitely gotten stronger from my exercise, but I had been exercising previously with my physio and pilates classes, in addition to some strength work. It’s not just the exercise. If that was all I had to do, I would have been successful years ago.

@Kate Bolinger I hear you! Noticing is a really important step, but it seems to be an age before the next change. 🤣 We'll get there xx

We have a little group that we call the Friday Night Fires - sadly we don't seem to do the fire anymore. So bringing this back will be amazing - either with myself, my family or my women friends!
May Events And Workshops
Happy Friday 💖 Hope you have some lovely plans for the long weekend ahead. I've been speaking to Oliver and this month he's going to run some 45 minute somatic meditation sessions which will be predominantly practical (not teaching) to help you develop and enhance your awareness and stillness skills. One will run on a Wednesday eve (6 May) and one on a Thursday eve (21 may). Pippa's session will be Sat 16 May @ 10.30am this month. The natters will continue to be a mix of teaching and group shares. I really encourage you to block these out as a time to connect with yourself and others 💖 The Q&A's will continue on Fridays where you can ask any question (nutrition, supplements, symptoms, struggles and more). 📅NEXT MONTH 📅 I'm in talks with Spice Pear Health about a HRT workshop as I know many of you have questions about usage and safety. 🪞Body Image Workshop🪞 How to use emotional processing, journaling and somatic practices to cultivate body confidence and self esteem ✨Coming Soon ✨ I'm arranging some MBM walks and events in the UK later this year so keep a 👀out.

Oooh this all sounds great. I've been a bit out of the loop for a couple of weeks.
Today a corner is turned
Great session with Oliver this evening. Might have to watch it again though as I'm so tired after quite a taxing couple of days. I've been studying with Robyn Puglia in her "Autoimmune Academy". Robyn is a nutritional therapist and an expert in autoimmunity and an immune nerd (her words!). I joined because it was yet another thing to study to resolve some of my own issues - chasing that wellness solution! She is also very open to us using ourselves as case studies. Yesterday I spent most of the day putting together my case, the health conditions, the timeline etc. It was exhausting and quite triggering as there is a LOT of stuff. Some of it I didn't put down as it was too much to share in a (not quite) public space, it would be recorded and my case study notes shared with the other practitioners there. More than once I considered just withdrawing it, but I knew that would irk me later. I've been "doing the work" now for decades, but the past 10 years has been totally dedicated to this - in a desperate attempt to get myself better. I've tried virtually every therapy going, spent £1000s on my health "journey" and become a learning junkie as I tried to sort myself out - as nobody else seemed to be able to help me get better. Robyn read the room very well. A big part of me knew that the answer would be you don't feel safe, your poor health is being driven by neuro-endocrine responses to constantly looking for that metaphorical tiger. My childhood set the scene. I needed to put things in place that kept me safe. Events throughout my life reinforced that lack of safety - that I could trust nobody to look out for my best interests and that the only person I could trust to get things done or do things properly was myself. I've spent years in psychotherapy, had hypnotherapy, IFS/Somatic coaching, acupuncture, done loads of self study, read tons of books, done courses on trauma, archetypes, coaching etc. But somehow, despite me knowing (key word here being know) how fundamental this work is to health and wellbeing, seeing it in every client I worked with - knowing that until they addressed these issues, there was only so far they could go with food & lifestyle and eventually it would come down to addressing the nervous system. But for myself - it was kept in a bubble in my head in a separate compartment. What has kept me alive and determined for my whole life is my drive to keep trying. Low self worth pushed me to look everywhere but myself for resources to fix myself.

@Keris Marsden yes absolutely- practice is imperative! I also loved Candace Pert's book. It was the first book I read that helped me to cross the woo-woo bridge and accept that it's actually NOT woo-woo. 😉🤣

@Keris Marsden I love David Hamiltons book on this! 🤣 Things have definitely shifted. Pressure in my ears is reducing and I have crackling which I'm taking as a good sign. 👍
