Most course creators get stuck at the very first step — not the recording, not the editing, the positioning. "What is my course actually about, and who is it for?" Here's a workflow I use with Claude (or ChatGPT) to nail that in about 15 minutes: 1. Open a fresh chat and paste this prompt: "I'm creating a course on [your topic]. My background is [1-2 sentences on your experience/expertise]. Ask me 5 questions, one at a time, to help me identify my ideal student's biggest frustration, their desired outcome, and what's stopped them from getting there before. After each answer, ask a sharper follow-up." 2. Answer honestly — don't overthink it, first instinct is usually right. 3. When you've gone through all 5, ask: "Based on everything above, write me a one-sentence course promise in the format: I help [avatar] go from [current struggle] to [desired outcome] without [common obstacle]." You'll walk away with a positioning statement you can use on your About page, your sales page, and every post you write from here on out. I ran this myself before building this community — "I help experienced professionals turn their know-how into a course without needing to be a tech expert or a video pro" came straight out of a session like this. Try it and drop your one-sentence promise in the comments — happy to give feedback on a few.
