AI?! 😭 😁🥰🤮
My dear composers! I've been pondering over AI now for a bit... But I'm curious... What are your thoughts? About it in music, for other tasks, for life stuff, your predictions.... How are ya' FEELIN' about AI ? Terrified? Excited? Angry? Wanting to throw a grand piano off an 11 story building? Curious to hear your thoughts Share them below 👇

Financially, AI is a scam. Its bubble will burst and when it does the whiplash will make 2008 & the dot com bubble bursts look like an exam in an economics class. Money is already being pulled back from massive data center projects. Creatively it's yet another 'tool' being used to steal from artists without their permission. Happily enough of the companies who pay creative people for their work understand this is a short term problem and are actively filtering against AI content at a level that's allowing some people to continue to get paid. Personally, I've been forced to use AI 3 times by PMs / managers for my role at my day job. The number of employees there who now consider themselves developers is disturbing. The network security ramifications alone give me and my fellow server engineers headaches. I've used AI to solve half a dozen VERY thorny engineering problems without being forced by management but on all of them I compared ChatGPT's output with many sources on my own.
You're invited...
Hello my dear tortured composers! Tomorrow (Saturday), October 10th, I'm hosting a live "co-composing flow." What is a "co-composing flow" you ask? We'll meet here, in this community, on camera. For the first 5 minutes, everyone will say what they are going to be working on... Then we will all mute and for 50 minutes, compose together! Then for 5 minutes at the end, we will all go around and say how it went. There could be some hangs at the end... Now, you might be wondering why on earth I would do this... Well, sometimes it can be hard to find the time to compose. Jobs, family, life can just get in the way. And composing can get relegated to the dust bin. But when you have a specific time with other people... Showing up becomes something you have to do! You can tell the people in your life, ‘Sorry, I have a call!’ It's a way of "carving out" that time to work on what is important, but not necessarily urgent. It is the same reason some people get a "workout buddy." Sometimes, if you don't feel like going to the gym, having that other person helps you get moving. Bring your favorite snacks and a piece of music you've been working on! Or start something new... Tomorrow at 6:30 PM EST for one hour... It'll be a hootin' hollerin' barrel of monkeys I dare say! Comment below with what you’ll be working on so I know how many chairs to set out (and how much food to bring). Cameras welcome but not required. Come lurk and work if that’s your speed. Here's the link to join: https://www.skool.com/live/qRSBYcPFhTJ You can also find it in the "calendar" tab! Can't join? No worries, I am going to keep hosting these at various times. Let's make some music!

It’s been a very long time since I’ve written anything. I may be able to attend today’s call, if I can I’m going to throw myself into it and write something.

I perform on bass guitar & bass clarinet and compose for short films, dance pieces and plays. Reigniting my composing muscles as it's been a while.
