Extra Knot Tension
USRSA recommends not adding tension for knots, if I remember correctly. Yet I see a lot of folks do it. I have done it both ways. Recognizing that last pull and remembering to do it are negatives. Why does USRSA recommend not doing it? Why do many stringers favor doing it?

Racket Stringing as a Service

@Gustavo Boratto I don't currently track my string jobs, mainly because it's only my rackets that I string. After seeing this, I will start a spreadsheet and track my stringing just to get into the habit, it could also be useful for new stringers, especially in terms of tracking how long it takes for them to string a racket.

@Patrick Markey Now that I am level 2 I have just gained access to the 'Resources' page, I will have a look at it when I get a chance. I like the idea of stickers or labels but the QR code is pretty neat too. I also like the idea of a business card with all the string and tension details on the back of it, but again, you would potentially be making it easier for other stringers to take your clients. I currently make use of a small lable printer which I use to label my own racket with things like type of string, tension and date of stringing. It's just for personal reference really and in case anyone ask what my current setup is.

Our first week

@Just Kramers I've seen other people do this too, seems like a fool-proof way to measure strings.

I measure string in an unorthodox way. I lay a measuring tape out to 4ft then use that to measure out 20ft then cut it and do the same for the crosses, if I had a different racket, I would probably do it the same way that @Just Kramers does it. Makes more sense. I also probably have more waste than other people, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Electronic Tension Head add-on Rotary style
Recently been looking at all the options to upgrade lock-out manual stringing machines, three primary types I have seen. The Wise 2086 which has gone through a few iterations. There is also the Rotary style tension head add-on and than a Tourna model. Has anyone had experience using either or have seen other options. I have used the Wise before, its pretty solid and accurate.

I purchased my specific machine (Gamma Progression ST II) with the Wise 2086 upgrade in mind. The theory was that I didn't have to pay too much to get started and then later down the line just purchase the electric head upgrade. I've also heard that it's better to have a straight-pull tension head rather than a rotary one, I can't remember the reasoning behind that, just something I saw online.
