Ever since dipping my toes into the waters of tweed, I've been looking for a herringbone pattern jacket in either a grey or green, or mixture of both perhaps. I would periodically rummage through eBay, looking for something that fit exactly what I wanted. I had, however, shut off all notifications to the app to avoid the temptation of impulse purchases, and passed on a lot of stuff I'd run across. Finally I found what I was looking for: Herringbone pattern, 100% pure wool, in a grey, with all measurements shown in photos, no holes, damage, or stains. But would my budget allow for it? At $22, Yes. Consider it done. Then the dirty trickster app suggested me an overcoat. Double breasted, peak lapels, 46" length, all the criteria set forth by the Gentlemans Gazette for a classic overcoat. (I fell in love with one very much like this that Sven or Raphael was wearing in one their videos.) Same grey color, correct sizes, excellent condition, 100% pure wool. $175. Hmmm. Returns accepted. I can at least try it. Both arrived today and I'm very satisfied with the quality, condition and fit of these two. I did expect some tailoring would be necessary to perfectly nail the fit, but it will not be major at all. Matter of fact I may just spritz the tweed jacket and throw it in the dryer on low for a few minutes. I can't find any brand tags on either garment, but both have tags ascertaining 100% wool shells, as well as the name Savile Row. The jacket was made in Hungary, and the overcoat in Brazil. They seem to be very high quality. If I average out the total cost between the two, I think I did pretty good. And procured them in time to be worn for the entire cold season. I am considering selling one of my camel colored wool overcoats to keep my wardrobe lean and get a little of that capital back in liquid. Threw a quick winter outfit together to see how everything fit layered up. I think some navy cavalry twill trousers would really level this up, but that's gonna have to wait. I was wearing dark brown wranglers for my day trucking, and just left those on. Hope I didn't get any crusty cow poop on my coat 🙃
