Tribute Acts of Ventriloquists? Who is your favourite?
One of the funniest vents I saw on stage was Neville King. He was a wildcard. He has sadly left us and I am friends with his widow Joanie. Last week she celebrated becoming Queen Ratling which is a charity I am part of. I paid tribute by performing with Neville’s ‘Old Man’. https://youtu.be/N-x4VBVmIDg?si=BL2f_KdtkLN8-vIF the trio is me in the early 1990’s with my mentor Jimmy Tamley with Neville backstage in England, Isle of Wight.
Do You Make Your Own Figures?
For those who make their own figures (whether you carve them out of wood, sew them, or any other materials) what is that process like for you? What are some of the challenges you have run into, and what are some of the rewards?

I don’t have the building gift sadly but I know the best makers and get them to do it
Young Audiences
For those who perform for young people, what is your fave age group and why? I like 3-7 because the imaginations are so open.

Vent Victories
What are you most proud of this week as a ventriloquist. I’ll go first: I have become a better joke writer and that’s carried over into my performance. What about the rest of the group?

Venues
Over the years as a ventriloquist I have worked some interesting places, there’s the obvious such as Theatre, Traditional Music Halls, Television, Comedy Clubs, Holiday Parks, Hotels, Social Clubs, Festivals, Fetes, Circus, Towers, Libraries, a workplace office, Restaurants, Schools, Pubs then there’s the extraordinary such as an underground tunnel, farm barns, living rooms and kitchens, conservatories, a post office and in the aisles of a passenger airline during a flight. I have also worked in some strange circumstances such as with no dummies, no sound, no lights, in a field, at a 1st birthday party (recently), 2 people in the audience, and during dinner parties whilst they are eating a main course. I have learnt in nearly 30 years as a professional to adjust to a bookers needs so the act works and everyone is happy although there are still mistakes that is out of anyones control. Any ventriloquists out there had strange bookings and funny gig anecdotes? #Justforfun
