MOTS-C: The Folate Problem Nobody Warns You About (And How to Fix It)
Derek Note: I feel like we've covered a lot of the well-known peptides and I want to do at least 1 post a day, going deeper in some side effects that pop up and how to mitigate them. I am a peptide nerd at heart and want to provide real value daily in the space. You guys support peptideprice.store I provide as much free info as possible. Drop a 🔥 if you're excited for this series. Let's Jump Into The Folate Problem (I have seen 0 creators talk about this except Dr. Dean St. Mart s/o https://www.youtube.com/@Deanstm) Quick Recap: How MOTS-C Actually Works MOTS-C is a peptide encoded by your mitochondrial DNA that triggers your body to build MORE mitochondria (cellular power plants). But here's the key: it doesn't just "turn on" mitochondrial growth - it forces it through metabolic stress. The mechanism: MOTS-C blocks folate metabolism pathways, similar to how methotrexate works. When your cells detect this folate "stress," they activate survival pathways (like AMPK) that trigger mitochondrial biogenesis. Your body essentially thinks: "We're under metabolic stress, we need MORE power plants to survive." This is the entire mechanism - not a side effect. The folate blocking IS what creates the adaptation. You can't have the mitochondrial benefits without the folate depletion. It's like training: You stress the muscle → Body adapts by building more muscle. MOTS-C: You block folate → Body adapts by building more mitochondria. The problem: While your body is busy building new mitochondria, your actual folate levels are tanking. And those new mitochondria can't function without folate. Neither can your brain. The One Thing You Must Understand MOTS-C blocks folate to trigger mitochondrial growth - this is HOW it works. But blocked folate = depleted folate = brain fog, mood crashes, and fatigue. Most people feel amazing for 2 weeks, then wonder why they suddenly feel like shit. This is why. What Folate Does (Why This Matters)

Why 5-Amino-1MQ Should Be the LAST Thing You Add to Your Cut 🔬
If you're thinking about adding 5-Amino-1MQ to your fat loss phase, pump the brakes. Here's why it should be the absolute last thing on your supplement list—not the first. The Harsh Truth About 5-Amino-1MQ: It's NOT a beginner fat loss tool. It's a specialized compound for a very specific situation: prolonged caloric deficits where your metabolism has adapted and fat loss has stalled. What Is 5-Amino-1MQ? 5-Amino-1MQ is a small molecule that inhibits the enzyme NNMT (nicotinamide N-methyltransferase). When NNMT is blocked, it increases NAD+ levels in cells, which can enhance metabolic rate and fat oxidation. Sounds amazing, right? Here's the catch... Why It ONLY Works in Prolonged Deficits: 1. It Addresses Metabolic Adaptation, Not Fat Loss Itself When you're in a caloric deficit for weeks or months, your body adapts by: - Downregulating thyroid hormones (T3/T4) - Reducing NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis) - Decreasing overall metabolic rate - Increasing hunger hormones 5-Amino-1MQ helps combat THIS adaptation—it doesn't directly cause fat loss. It helps keep your metabolism from cratering during extended cuts. 2. Your Metabolism Isn't Adapted Yet (Early in a Cut) If you're 2-4 weeks into a cut and fat is still coming off easily: - Your metabolism is still running normally - Your thyroid is functioning well - You don't have a significant metabolic adaptation yet Adding 5-Amino at this point is like putting premium gas in a Honda Civic—unnecessary and a waste of money. 3. The Basics Are What Matter First Before even THINKING about 5-Amino-1MQ, you should have these dialed in: - Consistent caloric deficit (tracked accurately) - High protein intake (1g per lb bodyweight minimum) - Regular training program - Adequate sleep (7-9 hours) - Step count/NEAT management - Stress management If ANY of these aren't optimized, 5-Amino won't save you. When Should You Actually Consider 5-Amino-1MQ? ONLY when you've hit these criteria:

It was one of my first peps I pared when switching to reta and love the two together. I am burning more fat that I was.
Tesa
I was on semagluide for a couple years. Has great weight loss the stalled. Started Tesa three weeks ago and started with 20 units with no result. Saw that some people do this twice a week vs once a week. Second week bumped to 40 units and still no change. Any advice?
