Your page does not have to hold everything. Leave a little room for yourself. Ingredients: - Art journal or plain paper - Pencil - Black pen - Purple, dusty rose, and olive markers or crayons - Yellow or gold marker or crayon Directions: 1. Lightly draw a large oval in the center with pencil. Leave its inside uncolored. 2. Outside the oval, draw three loose curved lines near the edges of your page. 3. Trace each curve with a different color: purple, dusty rose, and olive. 4. Add a small cluster of dots beside each curve. Leave the spaces between them empty. 5. Write the quote inside the oval with black pen. 6. Stop while plenty of paper still shows. The open space is part of your page. Optional Reflection: Where could I leave a little more room in my creative life? A little Halloween mischief for the rules that haunt your creativity. Let three friendly ghosts carry them away. Ingredients: - Art journal or sturdy paper - White scrap paper - Glue stick - Black pen - Purple, orange, and olive markers or crayons - Yellow or gold marker or crayon Directions: 1. Tear three ghost shapes from white paper: rounded tops with wavy bottoms. 2. Arrange the ghosts on your page, leaving room below for a quote. Glue them down. 3. Add two eyes and a smile to each ghost with black pen. 4. Write one creative rule on each ghost. Cross it out with one thin line so the words still show. Try: “Everything has to match,” “I have to finish today,” or “It has to look realistic.” 5. Add purple swirls. Draw two orange ovals for pumpkins and add olive stems. 6. Write the quote below your ghosts. Leave some background showing. Optional Reflection: Which creative rule am I ready to stop obeying? Example Quote: “The rules can say boo.
