You ever buy a beautiful new journal…
Open it to that very first page... And suddenly you're scared to touch it? 😂 You start thinking: What should I put here? What if I mess it up? Maybe I should practice somewhere else first... And before you know it, that beautiful journal is still sitting there BLANK. Honey, THIS is exactly why I created the workshop I'm teaching at the Art of Handmade Summit. 💜 My session is called: ✨ The First Page: How to Start Art Journaling When You're Afraid to Mess It Up And I'm teaching it on Day 1 — Paper & Mixed Media, September 15. We're going to take some of that pressure off the blank page and actually CREATE. No worrying about whether it looks like somebody else's journal. No trying to make your first page a masterpiece. No Creative Police standing over your shoulder. 😂 I'm going to walk you through a simple, beginner-friendly process so you can stop staring at the page and start making something. Because sometimes the biggest creative breakthrough isn't making something amazing. It's realizing you can begin. And if art journaling isn't your thing, that's okay too! The Art of Handmade Summit is three days of creative workshops with makers teaching all kinds of hands-on goodness. 🎨 September 15–17, 2026 💻 Virtual 🎟️ FREE to attend If you've been wanting to try art journaling—or you've been telling yourself you're going to start creating again—come hang out with me. We're ONE WEEK AWAY! 🎉 👉🏾 Grab your FREE spot here And if you've already registered, drop a 🎨 below so I know you're coming! — Meka

Creative Besties... WE'RE GOING TO A SUMMIT! 😂💜
Okay, technically I'm speaking at the summit — but I'm bringing y'all with me. I've officially been announced as one of the workshop leaders for the Art of Handmade Summit, happening September 15–17! Art of Handmade Summit And look what they have me teaching: The First Page: How to Start Art Journaling When You're Afraid to Mess It Up. Sound familiar? 😂 Y'all already know this is exactly the work we do here — helping people get past the fear, perfectionism, and “I don't know what I'm doing” long enough to actually CREATE. My workshop is part of Day 1: Paper & Mixed Media, and the event includes three days of creative workshops covering all kinds of handmade goodness. The entire event is online and FREE to attend, so I would LOVE to see a bunch of Start Creating Again Club names over there with me. 🎟️ Register here: Art of Handmade Summit If you register, come back and drop a 🙋🏾‍♀️ I'M COMING! below so I can see who's joining me. Baaaby, we're taking the Creative Bestie energy outside the clubhouse. 😂💜

Creative Recipe of the Week: Creative Weather Report🌞
Some days feel sunny, cloudy, windy—or all three. Let today’s inner weather become color and simple marks. Ingredients: - Art journal or sturdy paper - 3 colors of markers, crayons, or paint - 3 small paper scraps - Black pen - Glue stick - A cup or jar lid to trace Directions: 1. Pause and name today’s inner weather: sunny, cloudy, windy, rainy, or mixed. 2. Choose one color for each feeling you notice. 3. Fill the page with simple weather marks: circles for sun, dots for rain, curved lines for wind, or soft shapes for clouds. 4. Tear and glue down three paper scraps to create layers. 5. Trace one large circle and turn it into your main weather symbol. 6. Add the quote, then outline a few marks with black pen. Optional Reflection: What does my inner weather need today? Example Quote: “Whatever the weather, I can still make something.” Creative Garnish: Add three tiny gold marks where you want a little warmth to break through. — Meka

🎨 Creative Besties… let’s play a little game! 😂
Tell me your weekend plans… but GIFs ONLY. 👀 No explanations. No context. Not one word. 😂 Just drop a GIF (or a few 👀) that tells us what you’re getting into this weekend. Then go through the comments and try to guess what everybody else has planned. 😂 I’ll go first… and apparently my weekend involves a little planning and a whole lotta REST! Okay, Creative Besties… what are YOU getting into this weekend? GIFs only! 👇🏾

🎨🧂 IT’S READY, CREATIVE BESTIES!
Our Watercolor + Salt Art Journaling Class has officially been uploaded to the Classroom! 💜 After our little audio situation earlier 😂, I went ahead and recorded the entire class so you can now create along with me whenever you’re ready. In this class, we’re experimenting with watercolor, water, and different types of salt to see how changing the salt, pigment, water, and timing can create completely different textures on the page. And then, of course, we take what we learned and turn it into an actual art journal page. 🎨 I’ve also included the Watercolor + Salt worksheet we created for the class so you can do your own experiments right along with me. 👉 Head over to the Classroom → Art Journaling Sessions and you’ll find everything there waiting for you. Have fun experimenting, Besties—and remember, we’re not looking for perfect results. We’re seeing what happens! Ain’t no Creative Police. 😂💜 — Meka
