1 contribution to Creative writing with Hilary
Lately I’ve been thinking about this:
Strong writing is not about big vocabulary it’s about clarity and emotion. The simplest sentence can hit hardest when it’s honest. What do you focus on more right now, style or clarity?

@Hilary Seabrook Great choice. Clear writing usually wins. Do you consciously edit for clarity, or does it come naturally to you?

@Mel Baca I love that direction. For me, clarity works on three levels. Clarity for the reader means the message is easy to follow without rereading. The intention of the sentence is obvious. Clarity for character means we understand what they want, what they fear, and why they act the way they do. Clarity in development means every scene moves something forward. Nothing exists without purpose. When clarity is strong, emotion lands harder because confusion is removed. Which layer of clarity do you find most challenging right now?
