Retreival Augmented Generation in your project
Hi everyone, I am currently building this for my Virtual Assistant. using free tools, and its on a Local machine with LLMs installed. I am using Python, Rivet, PostgreSQL, Docker and Serper for web search. I am using a hybrid approach so that its as cost free as possible. Does anyone have any experience with RAG and any reccomendations?

@Jewen Presbitero Hey brother, sorry for the late reply. Well I dont keep track of time of how long I spend time learning. it's just a continuous process. It will be youtube videos or I just do coding and research. The course with Udacity was pretty quick for me, basically took me 3 weeks considering time I took to do coding on my personal project. Its been a year now I have been working with AI, from traditional models to Generative AI and Models that use Reinforcement learning like the ones I developed in the AWS DeepRacer league for Autonomous driving vehicles. Just keep learning man, but make sure its very precise for what you want, thats why only now with Generative AI, I have made a lot of progress in these 3 weeks compared to the 11 months I spent learning everything to figure out where my gap is! lol

@Patricia Ramos Hey there! Its been fantastic, I mean really what pushed my learning curve was the fact that I did Machine learning foundations with AWS and then built a reinforcement models for Autonomous a driving vehicle on the virtual race track they have. As for working with 2 LLMs (Llama 3.1 8B and DeepSeek r1 8B) it's been great mainly because I got the hardware to handle them (16gb ram ddr 3, intel core i5- 3550, GTX 1050 2gb.), so under my circumstances I had to go that route to be using Totally free methods to build my virtual assistant. my tool stack is Rivet, Python, PostgreSQL, Serper. Rivet is like n8n but completely free, and then SQL and Serper facilitate the RAG system I am designing for it, I am currently researching and building it. The VA is a chatbot at the moment and i interact with it and use it without the tools yet, this is where Llama is working. DeepSeek will be for planning and coding tasks, that I will do later. Challenges is always hardware lol, it tends to be a bit slow. Oh, and the chatbot is able to remember and learn from me and retain that knowledge as I got the code and node setup to facilitate this.Hope this message finds you well and that you also benefitted as much as I did and got busy with making something valuable to you! <3
