*Advice for Cold-Emailing from ISEF. Top Award Winner
Hey! I recently had to opportunity to talk with Natasha Kulwiat(2022 Gorden E. Moore Award). I mainly asked her about cold-emailing because my research requires a lab. I would like to share some of her advice with y'all. Read articles in the field you are interested in. This is because you will start seeing the same names over in again. If you a interested in their work note down their name and email. You may also ask if most of the authors live in another state, some people do remote internships for labs. Also attach a resume, this can include previous research, education, and training/certificates. Everything you would like to tell the professor about you. Remember to make your resume about one page, since they may be busy and not have a lot of time to look at your email. Next, if they don't respond, follow up. They may have not gotten to it because of the many emails they get. Make sure to also email them on a weekday or early in the week because they don't usually work on the weekends so they don't look through their emails on the weekends. And remember good luck, I hope this helped.:)
Science Fair, Research, College, and More!
Hey everyone! I'm interviewing two of the https://www.sciencefair.io/coaching/calls coaches today - Snigtha Mohanraj and Eli Hanechak. I will be posting their tips and advice on my YouTube channel. Snigtha- Snigtha’s science fair journey has been filled with accolades upon accolades from middle school. In 2020, Snigtha was a Top 30 National Finalist in the Broadcom MASTERS. In 2021, Snigtha was a finalist and third place in the 3M Young Scientist Challenge. Guess what happened in 2022? Snigtha won 1st Place at the Connecticut Junior Science & Humanities Symposium and qualified for the International Science & Engineering Fair. Fast forward a couple of years and Snigtha has been recognized several more times as a RISE Global Winner, and through the US Senate Youth Program, ISEF, JSHS, and more. Eli- Eli Hanechak is a rising senior at Pope Francis Preparatory School, MA and researcher at the Stratton Lab of University of Massachusetts Amherst. In 2023, Eli won the Sanofi Specialty Care Grand Prize Award at the Western Massachusetts Science and Engineering Fair. Eli then went on to win the Second Place Grand Award at the International Science and Engineering Fair. Eli was named a Massachusetts Delegate to the American Junior Academy of Science, and a National STEM Challenge Finalist. This is a crazy impressive set of science fair wins, but what I find even more impressive is Eli’s filed patent for “ARTIFICIALLY ENHANCED BIODEGRADATION OF POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE.” I wanted to take some audience questions from you all! If you come up with a super good question, I'll feature it in the video and give you a shout-out!

Since Eli is a researcher at MIT, does she have tips when it comes to cold-emailing and getting the trust of the head researchers. I live in a place where smaller uni(s) don't have the resources i need for my type of research project. So, I have to reach out to schools like UGA, GSU, and Emory, and I'm afraid they will say no .
Ultimate Guide to Research Internships & Opportunities
I've had a member of my team assemble all my best practices and advice into a free e-book. Download it below (it's literally a PDF file). From cold emailing to LinkedIn networking, this is an amazing resource. Let me know if you want more e-books like this, and if so, what should they be about? Write down in the comments below.

Thank you! This is going to be so helpful. You should do a science fair e-book(cold-emailing, ethics, presentation tips, and pre-comp routines).
