I am a 3rd yr student and want to learn something more but I was confused between weather I should go for FEA/FEM or both are the same thing?

The gap between 2 tracks is greater around circular portion of the track compared to parallel portion , can somebody help me with it?

I learned to make 3d printable hinges this week here is the render and the mating i made. I don't know why but i had issues with rendering this time, tried tweaking several things but the issue continues. Anyone had that before? The errors with rendering are in the latter images.( Weird rendered lighting and blurred out texture doesnt look like that in the preview but it comes out that way when I render)
