Answer to Shannon's post
Great question from Shannon on fixing skin tone. Here is a detailed answer with her example image.

Thanks so much, Joe! Very helpful to see how you went about doing this. When I have these color issues I just end up making the photo black and white (which worked), but it is always nice to see how to fix it :).
Getting rid of color cast?
Hi Joe. Sorry I didn't make the hangout. I had a drs. appt. I have been meaning to ask you though how you go about getting color cast out of skin. I shot a friend's concert the other night (some of the photos weren't great because I didn't have the best lenses for concert photos). I tried to mask, but it just looked weird when I adjusted the colors (and on some images the blue lighting made all the skin blue). Thanks.

Evening hang out tonight?
Hey friends, I know some folks have wanted us to add evening hang outs. We have the general hang and Q&A tomorrow morning. But how about adding one for tonight at 5PM Mountain Time? No agenda going in, just an opportunity to talk editing especially for folks who couldn't make the PS hang out last week or the the coffee hour tomorrow?

I’ll be traveling for the next week so I won’t be able to make it. Have fun!
Basics of color grading
Just a short introduction to color grading: where we suffuse an image with a given color. Really fun technique for landscape editing.

@Joe Klocek Thanks! I really love the style of the photographer Luke Stackpoole (you can find him on instagram). I bought some of his presets, but I want to know how to get a similar look from scratch myself (part of it might have to do with the lenses he's using and the light). Anyway...I've been working on this photo and I think I have the landscape pretty close to how I want it, but the problem is the sky. I can't seem to get it to how I want it (more of a blue/green tinge) and I have no idea how to get the color out of the clouds (I think this is because I did global edits to get the landscape how I wanted it but that effected the clouds too and now I can't figure out how to get those edits out of the clouds/sky). I have no idea how to export my file so that it will send, so here is a screenshot.

@Joe Klocek Wonderful! Thanks so much. Just watched it and am now going to go give it a shot :)
Curves edit
Here's an edit in LRC using ONLY the curves tool. I: • used the main curves portion and remapped the white point in, which brightens the image and stretches the histogram, adding contrast • used that same curves section to add more contrast • used the highly underrated color channels in the curves tool to add color, specifically more yellows and magentas • used the dynamic range portion of the curves tool to deepen the shadows. Curves is THE most powerful editing tool in any software.

What is the benefit (or downside) of having multiple points along the curve line as opposed to just having two or three points?

I feel more at home in nature than anywhere. I love capturing nature's beauty and hope to learn how to create edits that reflect what my spirit sees.
