Hi friends. Sisters and a few brothers here too. Not sure where to start. It was a disturbing event that went on for hours. The wind really whipped up around 10/11 then the serious gusts that totalled houses and way too many trees didn’t stop for hours. Winds were around 100+ mph. It pulled our largest avocado tree out by the root. A beloved tree. Also two tangelo trees a giant mango a soursop Moringa and the list goes on. Before my husband and I even got out of bed on Tuesday morning I looked at him and he was crying. Then we walked the property to assess damage. Heart breaking. It’s been a few days of clean up and my hands are blistered from raking and sweeping. l’ve collected at least ten beautiful bird nests big and small. A butterfly greeted me within minutes of leaving my home as though to say it’s ok. Our bees were buzzing around even though one of the straps keeping their hive in place had broken. When we took a drive that’s when it hit me hard. Kauais biggest trees—including Jurassic kahili where they filmed the movie—were down. Many HUGE trees broke power lines. I can’t imagine this getting fixed for weeks. We’re without power and water and our solar system —with full Tesla batteries/power wall —failed us. Nice. All the more reason to go properly off grid. I know very few people unaffected by wildfires windstorms flash floods and hurricanes at this point. Some who’ve lost homes. Ours is a brick shit house with hurricane tie downs on every single corner. We marvelled at our home and its builder. Alas—We need to be ready as the powers that shall not be have more in store. Many friends said—just leave—get a hotel in Oahu or come stay—I told them disasters and how you handle them build character. Running away does not. So there you have my update. I’m sad. I’m mad. My boys are half driving me mental. But I’m ok. Oh, and my freezer is bleeding so I must go tend to the great melt down. With love ❤️❤️❤️ Shannon

Thanks everyone for prayers and comments here. Means a lot. Power is back for us. Finally. And my son Tyde managed to get the solar up before that by jump starting the Tesla system so we were only 5 days without power. Pfew. Now to massive yard clean up -- my husband is MVP. Grateful for this community.
