Intro
Hi, please call me Selah. I live in Washington state (USA). I’ve been in a transition phase after burning out from self-employment during COVID, where I started a business without a solid plan. I’m passionate about organizational development and performance improvement. Feel free to ask me anything—I love researching and problem-solving (it’s my favorite procrastination tactic!! 😄). My past business focused on home improvements, so I can help with that too. I hope this community helps me: 1. TAKE ACTION – I have many plans and the necessary supplies, but I struggle with consistent execution. For example, I’ve been planning a bathroom renovation but haven’t started due to fear of inconsistency. 2. FIND MYSELF AGAIN – I don’t like who I’ve become in the past 6-8 years and want to reconnect with my community-oriented, active self. For fun, I enjoy: • Being outdoors (hiking, running, biking) • Creating (building, drawing, painting, woodworking, gardening, writing) • Laughing 😊 Picture is of my two dogs, Jasmine (left) and Brody (right), soon to be 15 y.o. and 13 y.o. Photo was taken somewhere in North Dakota, thus the giant bale of hay. 😊

@Lou Wild Sorry for my delayed response. Angel Ben is a doll, and so is Ozzy! Dogs ARE the best, and rescued one’s are my favorite kind. :) I’m curious about you facing perimeni during your second year of university - how old were you and what did you notice?
Just for fun!!!😉
Tell me where are you from and a fun fact about where you are from!!! I'm from Colorado the only state entirely above 1,000 feet elevation — it’s literally the “highest” state in the U.S.!

I’m originally from Fond du Lac, WI but have lived in Washington state for 20+ years, after moving here from California. I feel much more at home “:out west: than I did in the Midwest. As such, I relied on Google to tell me some fun facts about my hometown… It was apparently the first city in WI to install street lighting! It’s interesting to think that there was a time when this little city of 44k people was once ahead of the curve. :)
Day One
I wasn't able to join at 3am my time 😅 but I just watched the video and worked through the questions with the AI. It's got a lovely tone, incidentally. Very kind and encouraging. 🧠 Biggest insight: I struggle with moving forward with things that really matter to me because I internalised that perfection was a requirement for acceptance as a child, and I am personally responsible for foreseeing and mitigating every threat, including other people's feelings, reactions, and choices. It sounds ridiculous on the page, but you know what's more ridiculous? Putting the responsibility for regulating grown adults on a six year old child. ⚡️ My open loop is: cutting back aggressive large plants threatening to break my garden bed. 💛 One word for how I feel right now: Overwhelmed.

Thanks for sharing, Melinda. I’m glad you didn’t attempt to join at 3am. :) I can relate to the perfectionism - I can still hear my mother yelling out, “wrong note!!” From the other side of our large house While I practiced piano. I’m not sure whether she thought I was supposed to have perfected every piece before practicing, but I do know that her voice was in my head anytime I had to perform. Your insight about being personally responsible for foreseeing and mitigating every threat, feeling, reaction, and choice reminded me of something one of my eldest sisters shared with me/a group she participated in while doing some “Soul Purpose” exploration. Because she’s the second oldest of eight kids and I’m the “baby,” she developed a much stronger sense of maternal responsibility than I did… I only realized last year just how much that responsibility has weighed on her throughout her life. I will look back at my notes from our conversations because I remember her having a remarkable insight that resonated with you, but I can’t remember the exact language she used. Finally, you and I shared the same “one word.” :) We’re in it together!
Day 1 ✅ Done!
🧠 Biggest insight: In the daily questions, I wrote a bit about my athletic history as a former marathoner and triathlete. My life was very routined and, while I never loved the rigidity of routine, I loved knowing how to go about my days. While a schedule was sometimes exhausting, it was also what allowed me to perform - at school, at sport, at work. The AI insight that stood out to me in response to what I shared is: “The system you built your entire life around was never actually discipline - it was a protective strategy, a way of controlling enough variables to keep moving forward. When that structure collapsed, every tool in your toolkit stopped working because they were all built on the same foundation.” ⚡️ My open loop is: schedule a doctor’s appointment 💛 One word for how I feel right now: I wrote about this in today’s questions :). Clearly identifying feelings is hard for me because I’m not sure I’m ever feeling just one thing at a time, so when I try to come up with one word, it’s often “overwhelmed.”
