A Smarter Way to Learn Python
Hey guys, I'm a total newbie and I just wanted to run something by all of you. So I've found this PDF book on the basics of Python and it's from 2017. I really like how the concepts are explained, I understand them very easily, but I was wondering if it could be too old to be useful. https://digtvbg.com/files/books-for-hacking/A%20Smarter%20Way%20to%20Learn%20Python%20-%20Learn%20it%20faster.%20Remember%20it%20longer.%20by%20Mark%20Myers.pdf

Have you checked out Python Crash Course 3rd Edition? I used it in combination with the Harvard CS50p course. I liked going back and forth to reinforce my learning, combined with several shorter youtube videos. It also provided two different formats (reading and video) to reinforce my learning even more. Enjoy your Python journey!!

A young spirit oldie joining...
Hi everybody. I am a seasoned international business leader with almost 40 years under my belt; thus, probably much older than most of you😉 But do not count me out too fast. I am all about blending the tried-and-true with the fresh and new and now want to dive into the world of AI and data science to combine my rich experience with these cool tools. Why? Because I am passionate about helping companies not just keep up, but rock the global scene. And for you young enthusiast, I am always keen to learn from you and share some wisdom in return!

Welcome! I read above you are wanting to use AI in trading. There have been some arxiv papers published in the area of using AI for sentiment analysis. Might be worth looking them up to see what the state of the art currently is in this field of quant trading. I'll be curious to hear what strategies you discover! It's a fascinating subject and potential use of AI.
Math
Hey everyone! I was wondering if there were any prerequisite math skills needed for Ai programming. I heard that calc was needed for many of the algorithms.

I like the mindset of Jeremy Howard of fast.ai, who encourages students to just get started, and not to spend too much time taking statistics and linear algebra and other more advanced math courses. That is a rabbit hole that can consume a lot of time. There are libraries available that do the more advanced math for us, allowing deep learning and ML practitioners to focus on applications using the higher-level functions.
