This is Black Opal under a microscope at 250 magnification. This is one of my favorites one. It looks like scales and and acrylic paint mixed together.

@Coulter Fafard ah interesting! Do you know exactly why there are different colors so sharply delineated from each other? Is that just a case of different minerals? Like why is there a green chunk right next to a blue chunk right next to an orange chunk?

@Denisse Kindl Ha! Amazing... I totally believe that and its great to hear. How interesting that it lasts all throughout life. I really felt like it was a renewal recently. Like I rediscovered it. It's so strange. Suddenly I remembered green was my favorite color as a kid- especially forest green. It's been healing and fun. I can't quite put my finger on why it came back into my life, but I'm happy about it.
