Freemium Model: Community Growth Update
Hey Everyone !!! Here is my My monthly community Update: what’s working (and not working for me) in Grow With Evelyn ... Today we are talking about how I’m running (and growing) my freemium → paid system inside my Skool community, in case it helps anyone else is thinking of using this model. TL;DR 🤣 👉Freemium front door → high-value free workshop → one-off paid upgrade → community activation events → traffic challenge → bundles → future affiliates. 👉Soft launch revenue so far: $2,089 + 4 recent $97 upgrades 👉Everything is pointing in the right direction. 👉 Freemium → One-Off Upsell Model (and why I switched) I experimented with tiers, but after reviewing my LTV strategy (and talking it through with @Evelyn Weiss ), I moved to a freemium model with a single one-off upgrade. My Beta launch for the Cold Case Creator Club brought in $2,089, plus a few more sales afterward. And since moving the upsell inside the community, I’ve had 4 more upgrades at $97. ➡️For my niche and audience, the one-off structure is giving me: ✔ better long-term customer value ✔ lower friction for buyers ✔ no churn issues ✔ a cleaner upsell flow inside Skool 👉 Free Entry System (value heavy by design) Every new member gets: ➡ a DM directing them to the Welcome Post ➡ instructions to introduce themselves ➡ CTA to my free workshop (built with Evelyn’s Scrappy Workshop model) ➡️The workshop includes: The full framework + Workshop A workbook + quick start guide A mini template pack AI prompt pack .... and a CTA to join the main offer 🌟 It gives a win → then offers the deeper system. ➡️The Paid Offer: What’s inside: all my templates all creation systems a custom GPT asynchronous feedback Community only events like implementation weeks and social nights the deeper, structured cold case creation course This is my main offer inside the community (currently $97 Beta — price rising soon). 👉 Community Engagement Events Next month I’m running a free live murder mystery event inside Skool. I’ll use one of my products + an Easter egg hunt + mission style. I’ve hosted this before in a Facebook group last year and it converted extremely well — so it’s my main community activation event moving forward.

What do you think of this money model ... $49 a month or $97 a year or should it be $97 a month or $97 a year ? 🤔 😁

Skool Update: 500 Members and My First $1K Collected
Once again, I’ve been spurred into action by another new feature from Sam Ovens. Every time something launches, it gives me the push I need to stop tweaking and start executing. If you would like to read my previous update its here in GWE and its also in Skoolers but I can post in the comments if anyone wants to read and cannot access !: https://www.skool.com/evelyn/200-members-243-new-subs-and-still-on-the-9-hobby-plan?p=9ef28b02 Progress has been a bit slower than I’d hoped, I still don’t have a working ads account 😅 but momentum is definitely building. Here’s where things stand Progress Stats to date: - 1,111 new email subscribers added - 523 total Skool members - Upgraded to Skool Pro for pixel tracking + auto DMs - Launched a freemium model + 1 paid beta tier - 16 lifetime members joined since launch yesterday so far - $1,044 cash collected A lot of my growth has come from digital bundles, referrals, and Skool Discovery ... solid proof that consistent networking still beats waiting for perfect systems. When the new Skool tiers dropped, I decided to launch before I was “ready.”I created a beta tier with lifetime access, promoted it with just one Skool post and one email to my waitlist. The course is still a skeleton version right now, but I know exactly where it’s headed. Why I Chose a Lifetime model: After reviewing my customer journey and doing the math, I realized my customer lifetime value would be better served by offering a one off cost instead of going straight to higher recurring tiers. That idea was later confirmed by @Evelyn Weiss during a GWE Q&A, which gave me the confidence to double down on that direction. Tiers don't have the one off cost so I will need to adjust billing somehow or switch to another option but its ok for now. What I have learned: Don’t overcomplicate things. Right now, I’m focusing on one tier and making sure it converts consistently before I layer in anything else. Once it’s working, I’ll likely introduce a premium tier.

Previous Update: 25th August 2025 200+ Members, 243 New Subs and Still on the $9 Hobby Plan So here’s where I’m at right now 👇 - My ads account is banned, tried to set a new one up, computer says no...so paid growth on FB isn’t an option. - I’ve got a list of around 4k, but it’s been ghosted for a while: About half came from my coaching/VA work• Around 1700 are B2C buyers of my murder mystery games. - Even with that, I’ve started re engaging the list, and I’m getting > 46% open rates with less than 2% unsubscribes. - I’ve been focusing on bundles + community building — and it’s working. Here’s the current update: - 206 members in my free group - Grew my list by +243 from one bundle - My SLO/LTO for inside the community is nearly ready (just need to record the Loom trainings today) - Applied to 3 more bundles to keep the momentum going - Looking into Instagram only ads through the app... as it looks like I can still do this with a paypal payment. Lessons learned: 👉 Be prepared for an influx of new members right after a bundle, ideally with a community engagement activity ready to go. (I made the rookie mistake of taking a break at the same time 😂). Experimenting with the $9 Hobby Plan. - Pros: super low-cost, easy to start, great proof of concept. - Cons: I’m sending welcome DM messages manually, I can’t install pixel tracking, and there’s no affiliate capability. But the fun part, I want to take this $9 plan as far as I can as a case study to show what’s possible starting from the lowest tier.
